The first Zagato TZ3 Stradale has been built and delivered to the first customer. The model is based on the TZ3 Corsa which was designed to celebrate 100 years of Alfa Romeo last year. The Corsa race version went on show at Villa d’Este last year and won the Design Concept Award. The TZ3 Corsa is a pure racing model, while the roadgoing Stradale version is more an exercise in avant garde style.
That’s not to say it isn’t an impressive performance car, all the same. Zagato describes it as neo-classical, but this neo classicism is based on a Dodge Viper ACR chassis with carbonfibre body panels, (the Corsa has a 4.2-litre V8 as powertrain). The Corsa version is particularly linked to the Alfa Romeo TZ and TZ2 both it and the Stradale have Zagato’s classic “Coda Tronca” rear.
The first Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Zagato has been delivered to American collector Eric King, also a member of the Saratoga Automobile Museum. The Zagato company is describing this is as the first “American Alfa Romeo” in history, due to the Fiat-Chrysler deal and the components subsequently borrowed from Dodge. If that’s the case, we’re only too happy to see more of these American Alfas.

The drop-dead gorgeous Zagato TZ3 one-off revealed at last year’s Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza on Lake Como in Italy will not be so “one-off” after all. Autobild launched the rumour that the Zagato TZ3 would get a small production run, and the report has since been confirmed to Autoblog.com by the company itself.
Interestingly, after the Fiat-Chrysler merger, the TZ3 will be based on the Dodge Viper and will use carbonfibre bodywork. It’s a departure from tradition where past Zagato TZ models were based on Alfa Romeo cars. The TZ3 Corsa one-off was built for collector Martin Kapp who already has an Alfa Romeo TZ and TZ2 in his garage.
The TZ3 model won the concept design award at the famous Villa d’Este event, but at the time it was equipped with a Maserati V8 engine. In the TZ3 Stradale road-going production model we get could the Dodge Viper’s 8.2-litre V10 engine instead, and other aspects of the racing model - including monocoque carbon shell, rollbar cage and hand-made aluminium bodywork - will be modified.

Zagato wishes us a Merry Christmas with this teaser shot of the new and partially mysterious bow-covered Zagato TZ4. The Zagato Christmas card sent to customers includes images of the TZ1, TZ2 and the recent TZ3 Corsa. The teaser shot could be of the TZ4 or the TZ3 Stradale version which was also set to appear sometime soon. The image comes from the AutoEdizione Dutch site, while Andrea Zagato declared in an interview with Autobild in the Ukraine that the the new Zagato vehicle would be “elegant, futuristic but unmistakably Alfa Romeo”. Whatever the case, we like what we see and we want more!
Here is the official gallery of the Zagato TZ3 complete with all the details of the new supercar. The result of the collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagato was on display at the Concorso d’Eleganza at the Villa d’Este and was commissioned by German collector, Martin Kapp. The TZ3 Corsa celebrates 90 years of Zagato and 100 years of Alfa Romeo, and has been built with a tubular structure and carbonfibre monoshell with handmade aluminium bodywork.
The Zagato TZ3 weighs just 850 kg and has a weight-power ratio of 2.02 kg/hp. It’s 4.34 metres long, 1.94 metres wide and 1.2 metres high. The TZ3 Corsa is equipped with a 4.2-litre V8 with dry carter and 420 hp and a ‘Tractive’ six-speed sequential transmission. It has an acceleration time to 100 km/hr of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km/hr. The suspension is from Ohlins and is described as “push-road” technology.

Here’s the first pic of the Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa which will be presented at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance (or Concorso di Eleganza). The vehicle has been designed as part of Alfa Romeo’s 100th anniversary celebrations and clearly refers to the TZ1 and TZ2 in a history of Alfa Romeo Zagato’s. Below we give you a few pics of some of the original Zagato models.
The TZ3 will be a coupĂ© model, although details are still scarse. It should have a carbon monoshell chassis and hand-made aluminium bodywork. It has been commissioned as a one-off and should house the 4.7-litre V8 from the Alfa 8C Competizione. Technical collaboration comes from OMP and Pirelli - we’ll be looking out for more pics of this when they emerge.
