By Alison in: Volkswagen Hatchbacks Ford Videos

The Scirocco has a 2.0-litre TSI engine with 265 hp and front wheel drive. The Ford Focus RS has, however, 300 hp, a few more than the Scirocco. The German video is in two parts, and while you might not speak German, you get the picture. The Germans are also crazier and more exciting…

Volkswagen Scirocco BlueMotion

By Alison in: Volkswagen Coupe Hatchbacks

The Volkswagen Scirocco BlueMotion is on its way, broadening the ecological range offering from Volkswagen. The small coupe will soon have a new version of the 1.4-litre TSi engine with 122 hp, which will further reduce emissions and fuel consumption.

Even the sports market of the Scirocco will have to adapt to new environmental moves in the automobile industry. The Scirocco BlueMotion will have start&stop technology and energy regeneration when braking, achieving average cosumption of six litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 139 g/km. It will be available from December, and will then substitute the current engine option with 122 hp and 200Nm.

Volkswagen Scirocco: new gallery and details pre-debut

By Alison in: Volkswagen Coupe

Volkswagen Scirocco

Let’s get the negative stuff out the way with first, so we can then focus on the virtues of the Volkswagen Scirocco, as officially released: apart from the UK and Germany (August 2008), the rest of the European market will have to wait until November for the debut. It will be a long wait to test the appetite, given that its qualities have not been hidden.

It should keep its original and sloping lines as per the 1974 launch, when the Giugiaro Scirocco, in 18 years and with two series, sold 800,000 units. A success also given to the family feeling of this car: currently the visible central grill is gone, substituted by a plastic grill with new lights. The dimensions remain around the medium with 4256 mm in length (2758 mm wheel base) and width at 1810 mm.
