We don’t get to see the BMW 328 Hommage do much driving in this video but we don’t care. They could have photographed the gorgeous vehicle next to some garbage cans in a back alley somewhere and it would still look good - not to mention the original BMW 328 which shares the mountainous background in this behind the scenes video of the California photoshoot.
The 328 Hommage was a show stopper for us at last week’s Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza and quite the perfect vehicle for such a scene. In this video, we get to see some of the BMW 328 Hommage details close-up - including the interior, steering wheel, carbonfibre body, wheels and more. Now all we’d like is some footage of it actually going somewhere and maybe to hear that three-litre engine.

Aston Martin is going all the way with its beautiful new V12 Vantage by Zagato. Off the lawn from the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza, it’s heading to the Nurburgring 24 hours and this is part of what it will look like when it gets there. Probably with some lairy racing livery, the Aston Martin V12 Zagato gets a huge rear wing and a slightly larger splitter. While the Zagato Vantage won itself the Villa d’Este design award, we’re actually quite keen to see how this fares on the race track.
The famous Ferrari P4/5 Competizione from James Glickenhaus got a public showing at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza where it was definitely the raciest version on the shores of the lake. The one-off is based on a Ferrari Enzo and has been built by Pininfarina, although it uses a Ferrari 430 Scuderia basis for all the engine and technical components. Like the Aston Martin Zagato V12, the Ferrari P4/5 Competizione will compete at the Nuburgring 24 hours in June.

The woven look of carbonfibre really does it for me in general, but we’ll happily say that the BMW 328 Hommage is a beautiful car. Based on the defining principles of the original BMW 328, the modern Hommage model was at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza over the weekend and these pics show it in a particularly attractive light.
In the flesh, we can see some of the design characteristics shared with the Vision ConnectedDrive Concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, with its long bonnet and two-seater layout. We also get a good look at the interior, too, although what we’d really like is some track footage of this lightweight, fast machine.

We saw the studio shots, we saw how the roof mechanism works and finally here is the Ferrari Superamerica 45 in all its Concorso d’Eleganza glory. The Blu Antille special colour used is stunning and the Villa d’Este backdrop to these pics isn’t bad either. The one-off Superamerica celebrates Peter Kalikow’s 45 years of being a collector, and the colour brings back that of another his gems, the 1961 400 SuperAmerica. Kalikow is no stranger to Villa d’Este, having displayed his Ferrari Scaglietti Kalikow there in 2006. See the pics of the Ferrari Superamerica 45 below.

This gorgeous BMW 328 Hommage has been produced to celebrate the original BMW 328 model. Although eons apart in terms of the technological development that has occurred over the 75 years in between, the original and the new 328 share one crowning principle - lightweight materials to create a superbly fast racing car.
BMW says:
The BMW 328 is considered the most successful and best-looking sports car of the 1930s. The BMW 328’s success was the result of its design parameters – through the use of systematic lightweight construction, aerodynamic lines, optimum engine types and outstanding suspension technology, it laid the foundation stone for a new vehicle concept, by which performance only leads to success if combined with perfect harmonisation of all parameters and maximum efficiency.
While the BMW 328 Hommage goes on show over the weekend at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza, it’s easier to see just what the original meant to cars and racing 75 years ago. And even though the new 328 Hommage exemplifies the use of new technologies and lightweight materials, it merely builds on an idea that was born a long time ago. Not to take away from just how beautiful this vehicle is, looked at in inverse ageism, it will never be as innovative as the original purely from a time point of view.
Here’s the first video of how the Ferrari Superamerica 45 roof opening system works (from the guys at Quattroruote). It’s so simple it’s almost amazing to think it equips a special one-off Ferrari. The hard top roof is made from carbonfibre and as it opens the whole thing hinges back at a 180-degree angle and folds upside-down into the rear part. We’ll get to see more of this lovely Blu Antille-toned Ferrari over the weekend at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza.
Here she is, ladies and gentlemen, the Aston Martin V12 Zagato which will debut over the weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza, Villa d’Este. The coupe has been designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Aston Martin-Zagato collaboration and the first model which was made - the DS4 GT Zagato.
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato will be on show in full racing regalia before it gets a competition debut at the Nurburgring 24 hours on June 25th. It is set to follow in the footsteps of that first Aston Zagato which debuted at the same race with Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori behind the wheel.
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato roadgoing model will be revealed after and it will get a limited production run. The new racer is based on the V12 Vantage and gets a Zagato mix of design and technology. The project was headed by Chris Porritt who is the same guy behind the development of the Aston Martin One-77.
These Ferrari Superamerica 45 pics show the one-off model built for Ferrari collector Peter Kalikow and which will go on display at the Concorso d’Eleganza, Villa d’Este. The Superamerica 45 is based on the Ferrari 599 GTB and the name celebrates Kalikow’s 45 years as a Ferrari customer.
The Ferrari Superamerica 45 is an impressive piece of engineering with a rotating carbonfibre hard top and a completely new rear end designed to house the roof when the car’s in its open-top configuration. It’s a very sculpted model, with two side air outlets creating a longitudinal crease down the side of the car.
The colour of the Superamerica 45 is an exlcusive Blu Antille which is close to another of Kalikow’s important collector’s pieces - the 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica cabriolet. Other carbonfibre components feature on the front splitter, door sills and rear diffusor and are in a dark blue tint. The Superamerica 45 interior has a leather interior with dark blue carbonfibre contrast and a central touch-screen display. We’ll have more pics from the Villa d’Este event over the weekend.
A new Ferrari-Pininfarina one-off creation will take to the shores of Lake Como at the next Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza event. The Ferrari Super America 45, as it is called, apparently will be based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and has been commissioned by Peter Kalikow, a collector from New York. One of his famous collector’s pieces is another Pininfarina one-off, the Ferrari 612 Kappa.
The Ferrari Super America 45 should have a six-litre V12 on board and be dressed in Pininfarina sheet metal. This isn’t the first “Superamerica” Ferrari as the name has been used on other historic models. Beyond these details, there’s not much else to know right now, but the Concorso opens on May 20th so we’ll be able to check this out in person soon.
The drop-dead gorgeous Zagato TZ3 one-off revealed at last year’s Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza on Lake Como in Italy will not be so “one-off” after all. Autobild launched the rumour that the Zagato TZ3 would get a small production run, and the report has since been confirmed to Autoblog.com by the company itself.
Interestingly, after the Fiat-Chrysler merger, the TZ3 will be based on the Dodge Viper and will use carbonfibre bodywork. It’s a departure from tradition where past Zagato TZ models were based on Alfa Romeo cars. The TZ3 Corsa one-off was built for collector Martin Kapp who already has an Alfa Romeo TZ and TZ2 in his garage.
The TZ3 model won the concept design award at the famous Villa d’Este event, but at the time it was equipped with a Maserati V8 engine. In the TZ3 Stradale road-going production model we get could the Dodge Viper’s 8.2-litre V10 engine instead, and other aspects of the racing model - including monocoque carbon shell, rollbar cage and hand-made aluminium bodywork - will be modified.
