By 2020/25 Mercedes could introduce a new electric drive S-Class, equipped with the latest and most effective lithium-sulfur batteries, says Thomas Weber. R&D Daimler boss has revealed that despite being at the moment just a bare speculation, the idea could soon be turning into reality because - keeping in mind that most likely by 2020 all car makers will have to limit all their vehicles’ emissions to an average of 95 g/km - it’s valid solution to the problem of CO2 levels.

“If zero emission mobility will be necessary, and that’s what we believe, it’s clear we have to change to electric mobility” Weber said, adding that the F125! represents the future of the S-Class and that Mercedes will work hard on making its cruising range and power comparable to that of a current diesel-powered car.
