A survey from the site of Italy’s newspaper Sole24Ore has revealed that the ugliest car ever is the Alfa Romeo Arna. This was a car developed from a Nissan project that has never really been accepted by Alfa fans of any era.

16 percent of votes went to the Alfa Arna, with other cars in the running for the ugly prize being the Fiat Duna, the Citroen Ami6 and the more recent SSangyong Rodius. Alfa Romeo has likely redeemed itself in recent years - below some shots of the Arna.

Along with some of the more prestigious European manufacturers, SsangYong will also start offering a hybrid car, characterised by a combination of diesel and electric engines. The car is expected to be available in 2010.

In Geneva SsangYong presented its “naked” flatcar, demonstrating the various parts of the car’s technology including two propulsion units. Although whoever was expecting a completely unseen model will be disappointed to know that this engine will debut on the Rexton.

The news was revealed in Automotive News by Daniel Kaiser, aftersales manager at SsangYong Switzerland. The company has been working with some Korean partners on a 2.7 litre turbodiesel which will benefit from an electric engine. Even Mercedes and PSA have been working on a diesel-hybrid: the first took its GLK Bluetec Hybrid to Geneva and expectations are for a debut in 2010, while the French will release something a little further on.
