These pictures show the new Volkswagen Scirocco R rally car debuting at the WRC in the Germany Rally. The Cup Scirocco can run off bio natural gas and when it does, it emits 80 percent less CO2. The Cup Scirocco R is equipped with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Compressed Natural Gas engine which has 220 hp and 275 Nm of torque.

The Volkswagen Cup Scirocco R was driven by Carlos Sainz and Nasser Al-Attiyah as a course-opener during the rally. These pictures show how impressive the Scirocco R in its rally form must be. Not to mention the landscape - check out the vineyards in the background!

This Volkswagen Scirocco R tuning by B&B takes the 261 hp up to an impressive 306 hp. Torque has also been increased from the R version’s 350 Nm to a new level of 410 Nm at 1,900 rpm, and that’s just the first level of the tuning version.

Level 2 makes adjustments to the exhaust for optimal air induction with improvements to air flows, ignition and fuel injection to get 320 hp and 435 Nm of torque. Top speed is up to 275 km/hr, over the 275 km/hr of Level 1 tuning. The ultimate B&B Scirocco R tuning is Level 3 which has a special turbo unit, sports exhaust and air intake over the other changes. Power gets to a whopping 357 hp with torque at 480 Nm at 2,600 rpm. Top speed reaches 280 km/hr.

The impressive figures all come with using the Volkswagen Scirocco R 2.0-litre TSI engine. If you want a little tuning done, this is one that won’t break the bank with the Level 1 and 2 B&B tuning packages costing 1,198 euros and 2,798 euros respectively. Level 3 is more costly, coming in at 7,998 euros.

After the release of the Volkswagen Golf R and Scirocco R, we should also see a Volkswagen Polo R appear on the market. According to reports from AutoInternationaal, the Polo R will turn up in 2011-2012 with a turbo charged 1.4-litre TSI with 190 hp.

In additional specs, it could have a top speed of 230 km/hr and average fuel consumption of 6.5-litres per 100 km. The price is expected to be about 26,800 euros. With this performance and attractive price, it should be a competitor to vehicles such as the Seat Ibiza Cupra (with 180 hp), while completing the Volkswagen R range. Volkswagen has released the official pricing of the new Golf R and Scirocco R, which are both now available to order. The Golf R is equipped with two-litre, four-cylinder TSI engines, and its price starts at 36,400 euros on the German market.

The Scirocco R is a front-wheel drive model with a 2.0 TSI engine and 195 kW. It has a top speed of 250 km/hr and costs 33,475 euros in Germany. Both models have a less powerful option in the form of the Golf R Line and Scirocco R Line, which has the same bodywork and interior design, but with lower-spec engines.
