After much request from readers to our colleagues at autoblog.it, we publish this rendering from Omniauto of the future Alfa Romeo 169. We’re not all agreed on the design proposed here as we were expecting a coupè-sedan more marked in its agression, with a greater link to the 8C Competizione style.

Creating an heir to the 164 and the 166 will be a heavy task: keeping the Alfa sedan up to German competition won’t be easy. Various strategies and rumours are keeping our hopes afloat for the future of this vehicle, with a drawing proposed of the possible Jaguar platform for the 169 (see after the jump), possible Maserati roots and talk of rear wheel drive. 2011 is a long way off, though.

The Toyota Supra will return in 2010 to the joy of fans of the Japanese sports car. While waiting for more substantial news, Motor Trend has revealed the first ideas of its possible style, put together by the Japanese magazine Best Car.

Not everyone will remember the Toyota FT-HS, a very unusual prototype of a sports-hybrid presented in Detroit in January 2007. At the time there was talk that a new sports car, with production in 2009, would be born: give or take a year and that model is about to arrive, and according to reports at Sol Levante, the model is going to be the new Supra.

If the reconstructions are anywhere near the truth, the car is striking from the point of view of its looks, with a macroscopic difference in the rear where the Supra seems to have left behind the showcar of its parent. Outside of these premature considerations, a hint about the engine is needed: the heart of the project will possibly be a 3.7 V6 at 350 hp. Could the Nissan 370Z already have a rival?

Artists have been waiting for the moment of truth, whether an official approval or at least some sort of acknowledgment from Jaguar regarding their much-talked about new project, and indeed a project that has not exactly been kept under wraps. Were Jaguar to officially approve its ‘911 Fighter’ as it has come to be known, a battle would soon break out between artists trying to second guess the new design.

There would certainly be a difference of opinion between those enticed by the car’s technology and trying to follow current stylistic trend, and those who simply laud the sleek curves of the classic F-Type show-car. Nonetheless, the word on the street is that the new project will apparently combine the classic nose of the F-Type with a wheelbase more akin to the current XK coupè. A match made in heaven some would say, even if the XK would be more in keeping with the immortal spirit of Jaguar. In any case, considering the project has been given “top priority” status according to certain Jaguar workers, something will have presumably already been approved; perhaps the choice of platform, which according to rumour will be based around a shortened version of the XK chassis.

It is very hard to forget a car like Lancia Thema, one of the best luxury sedans ever made in italian automotive history. Especially since it has been replaced by two models that have not been able to repeat the commercial success of the foregoing car.

Obviously we are talking about the Lancia K and the Lancia Thesis both of which played an important role during the decline of the charming italian brand.

Thanks to the financial situation of Fiat Group, which is finally healthy, it is now possible to dream of such a remake, that will surely touch many Lancia aficionados’ hearts.
