Renault Megane R26.R: track time tests

By Alison

Renault Megane R26R

Track time comes in at 8 minutes and 17 seconds: five seconds less than the M3 E46, four more than the current M5. Not bad, eh? Especially seeing as this is the record for rear-wheel drive cars. The Megane R26.R is keeping its promises on the technical front, having fun with this car is guaranteed.

It’s all down to the 126 kilos less, but also the exquisite point of departure with the RS. The 2.0 turbo engine remains at 230 hp and 310Nm, while performance takes a step-up with net six seconds to reach 100km/hr. In Europe there will be some limited units available, at least in Italy we won’t be seeing any of the 450 available crossing the Alps.

Renault Megane R26R: at the London show

By Alison

Renault Megane R26R

Is this a message from above? Not at all: the profile is a real reflection of the dynamic capabilities of this car. We could be moving to a kind of eden as the spectacular Megane R26R will be presented at the London Show as the next generation.

These two teasers contribute to increasing the hypnotic power of the current model, created on the basis of the excellent RS. Compared to this though, 125 kilos will disappear along with any superfluous accessories for track driving. The 2.0 turbo remains stable at 230 hp, but 0-100km/hr can now be achieved in six seconds flat.
