From today the Porsche Panamera gets its own debut at the Porsche Museum in an exhibition called “Panamera Moment”. It takes its name from a book recently dedicated to the first Porsche sedan ever built.
In addition to the Panamera itself, documents and memorabilia are on display that trace its story from the initial idea, through the development process, road tests and finally the market debut. The exhibition focuses on the technological innovation of the model and includes multimedia aspects. The exhibition, with the space seen in the photo above, will conclude on February 28 next year.
The Porsche Museum opened its doors on January 31 and should prove to be quite an attraction for fans of the brand, as well as a new tourist destination. But for those who can’t make it to Germany, here is a video of the Porsche musuem and its 80 cars that are on show.
The first part of the video is dedicated to the various Porsche competition models, including the 917, winner in various editions of the Le Mans 24 hours. Other images show the Typ 64 from 1939, also known as the “Ur-Porsche”, and other models from engineer Ferdinand Porsche, including the legendary Volkswagen Maggiolino.
The second part of the video shows the Number 1 from 1948 and the car that has made Porsche famous, the 911 (with models dating back to 1963). You can also get a close-up look of the trophies that have been won, and the six cylinder boxer engine. Thanks to Ardospeed for the tip.
Exactly four years after Viennese architect Delgan Meissl won the competition to design the Porsche museum, tomorrow Porsche will open the museum to the public. The structure will house 80 vehicles, of which some will rotate through international shows dedicated to historic Porsches.
Among some of the most important vehicles is the first Porsche built in 1948, some rare versions of the Porsche 356, the McLaren TAG MP4/2 with Porsche engine, and a large display of competition and series cars. A classic Volkswagen, forerunner of the original Porsche and project from Ferdinand Porsche, will also be on display.
