A new official video starring the new Porsche 911 has been released by the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. The footage is a tribute to the history and tradition of the carmaker as well as an homage to its most famous model, the 911, whose first incarnation appeared as far back as 1963.
The new 911, aka 991 series, has been developed on an entirely new platform, only the third one in the model’s 50 years (almost) of history. The car is 45 kg lighter than its predecessor, with a wheelbase that is 10 cm longer. Its engine range include a 345 hp 3.4-litres unit for the Carrera and 3.8-litre delivering 394 hp. for the the Carrera S, both of which can be mated to either a manual or an automatic PDK dual clutch 7-speed transmission. The new Porsche 911 range is also ‘greener’ than the previous one, boasting a 16% reduction in both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The new Mercedes C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series has just been tested on the famous Nurburgring north course by German magazine Sport Auto. The car managed to complete its lap in 7 minutes and 46 seconds, meaning 15″ faster than the standard C 63 AMG Coupe it derives from (8′01″).
Most importantly, the new Merc has been able to do better than what can be considered its only rival, the BMW M3 GTS, whose fastest lap (registered in the same session) has been 7′48″. However, the car that recorded the best lap of the day was the new Porsche 911 Carrera S, which managed to stop the clock at 7′44″. This is just the first round, though.
