Here are some new spy shots picturing the much anticipated Porsche 991 GT3, the new supercar from the German carmaker that is expected to debut by the end of the current year. This mule was spotted while doing some winter testing on snowy roads (surely not the most natural habitat for the car), proving that Porsche is working on a car that can deliver in any situation, not only in the relative safety of a racetrack.
The pictured prototype isn’t wearing too much camouflage, allowing us to appreciate some interesting features like the classic GT3 front bumper and the centered twin exhaust pipes. The model is also sporting a small pop-up rear wing, but we really doubt that it will be that small on the final version of the car. A few days ago it was announced that the new GT3 will come with only one kind of transmission, but these shots do not help to shed any light on the matter. To find out whether the final choice will be a 7-speed manual or Porsche’s trademark 7-speed PDK ‘dual clutch’ gearbox we will have to wait for some official statement.
As for the engine, it will be a 3.8-litre 6-cylinder boxer unit, which is expected to produce something like 450 hp, meaning 30 hp more than the Carrera S and 15 more than its predecessor, the 997 GT3. Thus, the new Porsche 991 GT3 is expected to burn the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4 seconds.
A few months after it was last spotted and immortalized in some sneaky picture, the new Porsche 911 Turbo 991-series has been caught on camera again by our photographers. The mule pictured in these spy shots during some winter testing is still wearing some heavy camouflage that doesn’t allow us to see its front and rear bumpers, which have always been among the most distinctive features of the previous 911 Turbo. Same goes for the air intakes, including the ones on the sides of the vehicle. However, insiders report that the car will get a brand new rear wing with a mobile part as well as specifically designed mufflers.
As for the engine, it is fair to assume that the Turbo version of the 911/991 will come with a twin-turbo variant of the 3.8-litre boxer engine that can be found under the bonnet of the recent ‘Carrera S‘, but with an output in excess of 500 hp. This power will be transmitted to all four wheels through Porsche’s signature automatic 7-speed PDK ‘dual clutch’ transmission. Although no confirmations are currently available on the subject, some people think that the new Porsche 911 Turbo will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, in March.
A new official video starring the new Porsche 911 has been released by the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. The footage is a tribute to the history and tradition of the carmaker as well as an homage to its most famous model, the 911, whose first incarnation appeared as far back as 1963.
The new 911, aka 991 series, has been developed on an entirely new platform, only the third one in the model’s 50 years (almost) of history. The car is 45 kg lighter than its predecessor, with a wheelbase that is 10 cm longer. Its engine range include a 345 hp 3.4-litres unit for the Carrera and 3.8-litre delivering 394 hp. for the the Carrera S, both of which can be mated to either a manual or an automatic PDK dual clutch 7-speed transmission. The new Porsche 911 range is also ‘greener’ than the previous one, boasting a 16% reduction in both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Here’s a new official video starring the Porsche 911 (mark 991) testing at Silverstone’s Experience Centre with Porsche’s Chief Driving Consultant, Mr.Gordon Robertson, behind the steering wheel. In this video, Mr. Robertson gives us an all-comprehensive outlook of the most important features of the new sportscar from the German manufacturer. The video is quite self-explanatory and covers most topics: it surely makes for a nice watch.
The colleagues from Autoblog.nl have uploaded a video showing the progression of Porsche 911 (991) from standstill to 300 km/h. The test was carried out on a German autobhan and gives us the opportunity to appreciate the work of the ultra fast 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission equipping the model. This outstanding gearbox manages to get the most out of the 395 hp produced by the car’s 3.8-litre in-line six engine, proving that the performance figures boasted by the German carmaker are actually within reach.
The footage above shows the spectacular presentation that a South African dealer organized for the launch of the new Porsche 911 at an airport. Unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific than this about the location, but this video got it all: Top Gun soundtrack, jetfighters, a bunch of 911s dancing on a well-thought choreography, epic music and .. well, we wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise, would we? Check it out though, it is quite impressive indeed for a dealer.
UPDATE: Our reader Seb informed us that this is actually the launch of Porsche HQ to Importers and Distributors. We apologize for the mistake.

Porsche has released a new official video documenting the final testing stage of the 911/991, which was carried out in different and extreme weather conditions across the world. The footage will show you the car driving around in locations as different as South Africa and the North Pole for the last part of a 5-years long development which brought to the birth of the 991.
As you might remember, the outcome of all this work is a new 911 with a wheel base increased by 10 cm, a weight reduced by 45 kg, and a couple of new boxer engines: a 3.4-litre producing 350 hp and a 3.8-litre delivering 400 hp, all of which are available with either manual or PDK dual clutch 7-speed transmissions. Besides, convertible versions of both models have been unveiled just a few weeks ago.

Good news for Porsche fans - we will definitely see the new Porsche 911 at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and this official video teaser shows us some of the details we can expect on the new generation. The 991 version of the iconic coupe is undergoing final testing in South Africa and we should see a Carrera and Carrera S version appear with the six-cylinder boxer engine.
At this stage the Carrera could be equipped with the 3.4-litre engine with 350 hp, also to appear on the Boxster S and Cayman S, and the Carrera S could have the more powerful 3.8-litre with 400 hp. Two seven-speed transmissions should be on offer - a manual and a dual-clutch gearbox, both with launch control function.
The car will be longer and wider, but should be more efficient as Porsche continues to get its fuel consumption down. In the video you’ll see there’s no handbrake - it’s being substituted with an electronic command instead. There’s still some interior camouflage but the models on show in this video are pretty much production-ready.
