Three official videos starring the upcoming Peugeot 208 have been released by the French manufacturer. As reported in our previous post about this car, the 208 is a significant leap forward compared to the much criticized 207 model it will replace in the B-segment. Both interior and exterior designs have been completely revised, while the engine range is also brand new. The new model will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show .

Peugeot released some information and an official photo gallery about the 208, their brand new segment-B car. The model will be available with both 3 and 5 door body-types, and will feature several interesting solutions that set it apart from the 207 model it will replace: it will be 110 kg lighter, 7 cm shorter and 1cm lower, and still Peugeot menaged to add 5 cm of legroom and 15 litres of boot capacity.
The engine range for the new 208 is also brand new: it consists of a 1.0 and a 1.2 three-cylinder petrol units (producing 68 hp and 84 hp) with CO2 emissions figure of 87 g/km and a claimed average fuel consumption of 3,4 l/100 km, and a pair of turbocharged diesel units emitting less than 99g/km of CO2. The car will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Even though there is no mention of the model anywhere in this 2 minutes long clip, this official teaser from Peugeot somewhat confirms the rumor that the new 208 will be launched over the internet this coming 2nd of November. All the clues and also the sketches drawn by the designers featured in the video just point at it.
The 208, heir of Peugeot 207, will have a completely different style than its predecessor, featuring a front end similar to the 508, with a smaller grille. The engine range will consist of the already known HDI line (with start/stop system) as well as a new generation of turbocharged 3 cylinder units. The most longed-for version is quite obviously the 208 GTi, which promises to be as aggressive and groundbreaking as its iconic ancestor 205GTi, which was a great commercial and racing success in the 80s and 90s.
Peugeot has released a special edition 207 model to celebrate its 200-year history and one of its most popular cars. The Peugeot 207 Millesim 200 kit is now also available on the 107 and includes fog lights, chrome grille, side skirts in the same tint as the body, 15-inch alloy rims (14-inch for the 107) and the 200 year anniversary Peugeot badge.
On the inside we get manual air conditioner, Bluetooth technology with radio and CD and steering wheel controls, along with USB port. There is also ESP, ABS with electronic re-start after braking, and driver, passenger and side airbags. The Peugeot 107 Millesim 200 gets a rev counter and interior blue finishings with blue stitching around the seats.
The 207 Millesim 200 is available in both three and five door models and comes with the possible following engine choices: 1.4-litre with 75 hp, 1.4 16V VTi with 95 hp, 1.4 HDi FAP with 70 hp and the 1.6 HDi FAP with 93 hp. Pricing starts at about 14,675 euros and it will be available from June through to the end of summer.
As you may well imagine, Volkswagen did very nicely in the European market for 2009, as did Opel and Ford (and there’s no prizes for guessing for which models). There are a couple of surprises though, with Fiat doing very well, but not with the Fiat 500, which makes a nice change, and Peugeot and Renault put in appearances as well.
