Lamborghini teaser: the third before Paris motor show

lamborghini teaser parigi 2008

Lamborghini has released the third episode in its teaser campaign coming up to the Paris motor show. And while fans may have been hoping for something more concrete, the task of identifying what this prototype will be is increasingly arduous.

In this third piece of the puzzle, what we see should be the rear lights, but the press release is coy, saying “the Italian sports car that allows the application of all possible technical solutions”. If we assume this is not an off-the-cuff comment, it still doesn’t give an insight as to what the company is trying to say. We’re sticking with the Urus, sedan-coupè theory until we get some clear ideas as to this new vehicle.

Lamborghini: inside source confirms new model

By Alison in: Future Cars Lamborghini Super cars

ruotelambo1

After a bit of kerfuffle over the mysterious Lamborghini to be shown at the Paris motor show, confirmation, indirect but well-founded, has arrived from the company as to the model that will be presented.

While many theories abounded, we finally decided that the DNA of this car was going to be very different from a Gallardo or Murcielago. According to reports from Automative News, the Paris prototype will be a direct rival to the Aston Martin Rapide, though positioned at the top of the range in terms of both prestige and price. The name should be Urus (derived from Uro which was a kind of wild cow in Europe that was extinct in 1627).

The engine will have direct injection and will be smaller than the Gallardo LP 560/4 5.2 litre V10. Power should similar and a V8 solution hasn’t been excluded. The commercial target would be 3000 units, coincidentally the same as the Rapide.

Autoblog.it has also received reports from an employee at Lamborghini, that would confirm the above. It would seem that step by step, the new car is being revealed. Our source added that the engine would be from Audi origin, with twin turbo compressors and would be a front-centre engine. It will also be an all-wheel drive version. Paris seems too far away!

Paris 2008: Suzuki Alto

By Alison in: Future Cars City cars Suzuki

SuzukiAlto

The “A” in the name has remained but unfortunately the sharper lines have disappeared. After revealing the A-Star “muse” at the last New Delhi show, Suzuki presents the “Alto”, a compact car to debut at the next Paris show.

While waiting for an official press release, the only details revealed are of the engine: it will be one-litre, with emissions contained at 109 grams of CO2 per kilometre, in line with Euro 5 norms. Manufacturing should start at the Manesar plant in India next October, and we should see it available on the market in spring 2009.

Paris 2008: General Motors will present the Delta platform

By Alison in: Saloons Opel/Vauxhall

As we continue with our reports on preparation to the Paris show, talk is getting louder as automobile companies start equipping themselves over the coming months. General Motors is gearing up for its presentation of its plans to reveal the smaller cars of the company.

The platform will be called Delta and we will clearly be introduced to rear wheel drive, coming from the current Opel Astra, although it won’t have much in common with this model. The debut will be on a new model whose brand is still unknown.

Rumours are not lacking though: there’s talk of the next Opel Astra, of a Saab 9-1 series, and even talk of lining up next to the Chevrolet Lacetti, which appears the most credible at this stage. The new C segment will have little to do with current models: according to reports we should see a three volume version, which means bodywork not seen in many models of this sector, at least for the Italian market.

Countdown to the new Ferrari begins!

By Alison in: Ferrari Coupe Announcements

ferrari gt countdown

In the end, time has passed quickly for the new Ferrari and knowing that it’s already come around we were a little so-so about the news, waiting for October and Paris. But we reported the news that in May we would know something about the highly-expected Maranello, and now we’re enthusiastically indulging in the sound of the V8 presented on the mini-site.

What else can we say? There are only several days left until May 20 when at 7pm the nervous wait will be over and we can show you pics of the new Ferrari but the countdown still shows more than 70 days - we’re not sure we can handle the wait.
