Pagani Huayra video teaser: Huayra minisite appears

By Alison

Pagani_Huayra_minisite

The Pagani Huayra (as it is now officially named) will be presented soon at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, but here it is again in its second last video teaser before its unveiling. The Huayra minisite has also gone online at deusventi.com where you can view all the four videos so far. This latest one is about creating the Huayra, described as elegant and tenacious, it looks like it’s a real inspiration from the company which has cemented its name as one of the world’s best hypercar manufacturers. See the fourth video after the jump.

Pagani C9 video teaser number 3

By Alison

The third Pagani C9 teaser is still in the “now you see it, now you don’t” field with glimpses of hot-looking steering wheels and honeycomb grilles. The model, which could be called Huayra or Deus Venti (the jury’s still out), will have its official presentation at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and before then, we’ll be treated to another two teaser videos. We’re enjoying the noir look but the Geneva show can’t come fast enough….

Pagani C9 video teaser 2: Deus Venti the new new name?

By Alison

After the coffee, this second teaser video of the Pagani C9 shows some super close-up images of the interior, designed to show off the Pagani craftsmanship (as if we needed convincing!). According to the company, the teaser videos total five and this second one comes just a few days after the first. The C9 will have its official presentation at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and we can only imagine that it might steal the show from just about every other model on the floor. That gives us another three videos to come in the meantime.

Yesterday we revealed that the new C9 could be called the Pagani Huayra, meaning “wind” in a native south american language, but today World Car Fans is stating that it might actually be called the Deus Venti or “god of winds” in Latin. That’s obviously still in line with the tradition of the Zonda, but we think we’ll close the chapter on possible names here and wait for official statements from the company.

New Pagani C9 to be called Huayra?

By Alison

Pagani C9 rendering

The Pagani C9 could turn out to be called the Pagani Huayra according to trademark applications for the name. This new name (which we hope will emerge with a pronunciation guide), apparently derives from the old south american word ‘quechua’ meaning wind. This would continue a tradition of Pagani cars being named after winds or words native to its Argentinian origins, with Zonda being a wind that blows on the Andes. The first pics of the new Pagani C9 could appear at the end of this month, although the official presentation is set for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Pagani C9 teaser video

By Alison

As far as video teasers go, we love this one from Pagani of the new C9 for its sublety and its beautiful imagery, regardless of the fact that we can’t really make out what the teaser bit in the last few seconds really is. The new Pagani is the Zonda replacement set to be revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March and what better way for us to kick off the new year on Eurocar than with a fleeting glimpse of one of the most anticipated supercars to be presented this year?

The Pagani C9 will have a Mercedes V12 engine with what is rumoured to be about 700 hp and more than 1000 Nm of torque. It seems you can’t get more hyper than that. Below are a couple of renderings that have emerged of what the C9 might look and while we’re itching to see this when it gets released, we’re happy to wait in blissful expectation for the moment.

Pagani Zonda Absolute: another one-off Zonda

By Alison

Pagani Zonda Absolute

The Pagani Zonda is starting to have about as many special editions as the Fiat 500 (though they are obviously far more expensive to produce). Here is another one-off Zonda squeezed out before the new Pagani C9 appears. This particular one is called the Zonda Absolute and joins others such as the Tricolore, RAK, 750 and Uno editions.

As usual, Pagani is making this special edition for a customer who has already ordered it, and this time reportedly it’s a customer in Hong Kong. We get the usual full carbon fibre job with a snazzy tricolore stripe down the front (a touch we really quite like). The full opaque colouring is carried through to the interior done in black. This particular Zonda is probably one of the few right-hand drive ones around and we’ll be keen to see more pics if they turn up - despite the umpteenth one-off, we still can’t get enough of out Pagani Zondas.

Pagani Zonda F Roadster live pics from Bologna

By Alison

Exclusive Pagani Zonda F Roadster live pics

These live pics of the Pagani Zonda F Roadster come from our guys at Autoblog.it who were lucky enough to spot it at the Bologna motor show. Not only that, our blogging colleague also got the chance to have a chat with Horacio’s nephew, who apparently revealed some information about the upcoming Pagani C9, but it was promised that the information would not go to print. In any case, we can expect a masterpiece with Pagani raising the bar yet again on its own hypercar models, and the C9 set to be a new benchmark.

The Pagani Zonda F Roadster you see in the pictures appeared in a corner of the Bologna motor show exhibition hall, guarded only by the young relative of the man himself. There was no glass to be got around - not even a red cord marking the area, which is something you see on much less prestigious and precious cars. Enjoy the pics below and if we get wind of what the information on the C9 was, in addition to Pagani’s plans for the US, we’ll let you know.

Pagani Zonda RAK one-0ff

By Alison

Pagani Zonda RAK

This Pagani Zonda one-off is called the RAK and is another take on the Zonda Cinque model. It’s the sixth one-off model to be developed after the Zonda PS, Uno, Tricolore, HH and 750. The RAK will be on show at the Auto Salon Singen event and is part of that dealer’s impressive collection of cars which includes a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB valued at 4.45 million euros.

The RAK has the same set-up as the Cinque with a 7.3 litre AMG engine with 700 hp and the car body is made from carbon and titanium. It stands out with its yellow colour, and has brake calipers to match. The price is said to be about 1.85 million euros.

Pagani Zonda R track drive by Fifth Gear

By Alison

Last week we saw the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport test driven by Autocar, and today we bring you Tiff Needell driving the Pagani Zonda R. The supercar is as impressive as the Bugatti depending on which camp you’re in, though perhaps its style is more along the lines of a classic, Formula 1 look. Something which should suit Needell.

The Zonda R is equipped with a 6.0-litre V12 from Mercedes with 750 hp. It can get to 100 km/hr in just 2.7 seconds, has a top speed of 350 km/hr and weighs just 1,070 kg. Obviously Needell track tests the whole lot - horse power and low weight - in his farewell to the Zonda before it gets replaced by the future C9.

Obviously by the time the drive gets underway Needell does an awful lot of yelling to make himself heard, but what we can gather is that Pagani built a near-perfect vehicle with sweet torque and steering to match the awesome power. Of course, there’s the need to switch off the traction control at one point and then things get serious.

Pagani Zonda 750 one-off

By Alison

One-off Pagani Zonda 750

The Pagani Zonda 750 is another one-off Zonda built to order for an Arab car collector. The Zonda is on its way out of production as the Italian car manufacturer looks to replace it with the C9 model currently being developed. The Zonda 750, seen in these images, is based on the Zonda Cinque model but no official details have been released. It is most likely equipped with the V12 AMG engine from the Zonda R and other elements such as exhaust, aerodynamic features and air intakes would suggest so.

Pagani Zonda Tricolore video

By Alison

We often see car manufacturers drawing a long bow with some of their chosen metaphors, but in this beautiful video the Pagani Zonda Tricolore deserves its association with Italy’s jet fighting acrobatics team, the Frecce Tricolore. The team celebrated its 50th anniversary over the weekend and this video of the one-off Zonda Tricolore has been produced to honour them. The new Pagani C9 is on its way, and so we’re getting these one-off Zondas as part of the model’s swansong. The Tricolore model itself cost 1.3 million euros.

Pagani Zonda R track drive video

By Alison

I was horrified on first seeing this that Autocar was going to a 90-second test drive verdict on the Pagani Zonda R but in retrospect it would have been fun to see them try. What’s there to say, really? The Zonda R represents the Zonda swansong before the new Pagani C9 turns up but that obviously doesn’t mean they shoved one off the production line with a few stickers attached and called it a special edition.

The Pagani Zonda R is equipped with an aspirated six-litre V12 engine with 750 hp. Clearly not a street legal car. The presenter is visibly excited which is quite funny really as he takes us through the technical details of the vehicle. The Zonda R can reach 900 hp without its power limiter and its gearbox is a full track job.

We’ll leave you to check out the video yourselves but we had to point out the one hilarious quote from Italian driver, Andrea Montermini. Question: “How do you drive it?” Answer: “It’s a piece of cake.”
