Nissan GT-R m.y. 2012 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.84 seconds
The good people from Japanese website Lovecars just wanted to see for themselves what the Nissan GT-R model year 2012 is capable of after the upgrading that provided its already astonishing 3.8-litre V6 with even more power and torque. So they took one to the Sendai Hiland Raceway to find out more about its acceleration, and the outcome is indeed quite impressive.
The car registered a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint time of only 2.84 seconds, doing the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 2.72 seconds. It’s yet another confirmation that the GT-R project just gets better and better, year after year, as the Model Year 2010 did the 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds while the Model Year 2011 did that in 3 seconds flat.
In the shift between the 2011 and 2012 models, the GT-R gained an extra 20 hp (going from 530 to 550 hp) as well as 20 Nm of peak torque (going from 612 to 632 Nm). The car will hit the showrooms in early 2012, but Australian, British, Japanese and South African markets will also get the even more impressive “Track Pack” version, featuring 2 seats, more sporty settings (based on the V-Spec version), a specific brake cooling system, alloy wheels and a special lip-spoiler.

Nissan GT-R Model Year 2012: first official video released
Talking about the new Nissan GT-R, Chief Vehicle Engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno stated that “we have a car that has the potential to go from 0-100 km/h (0-62mph) in under 3 seconds, lap the Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes 20 seconds, and cruise at speeds of 300 kilometers per hour”. There is no doubt that the new GT-R will have people turning their heads, just like all the previous incarnation.
It seems like the new Japanese supercar can do anything: Mizuno pointed out that the car is extremely versatile and user-friendly, affordable for all and could even take you on holiday on the seaside - if you wish so - as it lacks all that sort of limitations that most ‘regular’ supercar usually brings along.
Here is the first official video featuring Nissan’s latest evolution of the GT-R. We just cannot wait to see what it will come up with at the Nurburgring.
