Morgan Aero Coupe to be unveiled in Geneva

By Adrian

Al Salone di Ginevra Morgan presenterà l'Aero Coupé

The next Geneva Motor Show will see the official unveiling of the new Morgan Aero Coupe, a new two-seater from the British carmaker entirely made of aluminum and hand built. According to Morgan, the new Aero Coupe is inspired by the famous GT3 Aero, a car that enjoyed a number of racing victories in its days.

The model is powered by a 4.8-litre V8 engine courtesy of BMW, which provides the Aero Coupe with 367 hp in its stock version and 390 hp with the package inclusive of sports mufflers. The car comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard equipment, but Morgan also offers an automatic transmission option (supplied once again by German specialist ZF) that will be able to operate in two modes, Auto and Sport, with the latter that switches gears past the 6,500 rpm, allowing for a full exploitation of the power coming from the German engine.

In terms of sheer performance, the Morgan Aero Coupe boasts some quite impressive figures: top speed is rated at 273 km/h (170 mph) while its 0-100 km/h 862 mph) sprint time is just 4.5 seconds. Outstanding performance aside, Morgan did not fail to provide the new model with the level of comfort and usability that one would expect in a gran turismo car of this leverage. Inside we found leather and suede with top notch finishing, while the ash hardwood that surrounds cockpit and doors can be hand polished in a colour chosen by the customer. Check out Morgan Aero Coupe’s specs right after the jump.

Morgan Eva GT: debut postponed to 2014

By Adrian

Morgan Eva GT

Morgan postponed the official debut of the new Eva GT to the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The new flagship of the British carmaker was scheduled to make its debut at the 2012 edition of the Swiss event, but apparently Morgan technicians have found something wrong with its all-new magnesium bodyshell, an issue that prompted the decision to delay the launch of the new 4-seater by two years.

The new Morgan Eva GT will be equipped with a 3-litre 6-cylinder unit courtesy of BMW, that will provide the car with an output of 306 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque. Weighing in at only 1,250 kg, the Eva GT should be able to go from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 secs, with 270 km/h (167 mph) of top speed and an average fuel consumption of 6.25 l/100km

Two transmission options will be made available: a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic, the latter supplied by renowned German company ZF. Quite predictably, the car will come with a number of modern accessories such as Xenon headlight, sat-nav and so on, but we have just been given another two years to talk about that, so we will save it for the next update.

Morgan to unveil the new Plus 8 at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show

By Adrian

2012 Morgan Plus 8

Morgan will introduce a renewed version of the Plus 8 at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The British carmaker has already alerted its customer base about the upgrade of this historic model which - according to Autoevolution - will feature new alloy wheels derived by the Aero 8, air conditioner and will offer an automatic transmission option.

No information was released about the engine, although the name Plus 8 has always been synonymous with V8 as several versions of Buick/Rover V8 engines have powered this model throughout the decades. Other Morgan’s models used a BMW aspirated V8, whereas the Morgan Roadster has recently switched to a 3.7-litres V8 by Ford, so it would not surprise us to see an American engine under the bonnet of the next Plus 8. The car will be available in 8 different colors with plenty of options for its customization.

Morgan celebrates its centennial with Aero SuperSports

By Gustavo Henrique Ruffo

Morgan Aero SuperSports

Not everyone is lucky enough to turn 100-years old, but some are. Morgan is a nice example of that. The traditional British company will celebrate its centennial in 2009 and there is nothing better to do so than presenting a brand new vehicle. And this vehicle, in Morgan’s case, is to be called Aero SuperSports.

Based on the Aeromax, the new vehicle also features an aluminium chassis and other lightweight solutions that will allow it to weight just 1,180 kg. Apart from being light, a regular recipe from Morgan, the car will also be powered by a powerful engine, a 4.8-litre V8 BMW able to generate 372 bhp, with a weight distribution of 50% in the front axle and 50% on the rear one. Perfect balance is desirable in a car that reaches 274 km/h of top speed and sprints from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.2 s.

Just like the Aeromax, Aero SuperSports will be produced in limited numbers: only 200 units, at 127,000 pounds each. Deliveries will start in 2010, but you can already reserve yours with a 25,000 pounds deposit. If you want one, you’d better rush!
