New Brabus Mercedes at Frankfurt
The Brabus tuning outfit will display a new Mercedes tuning model at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Brabus Mercedes models are generally considered some of the more outrageous tuning efforts of Mercedes’ on the market, but are hits in the US and the Middle East.
The upcoming Brabus tuning model should be based on the Mercedes C-Class Coupe as seen in this pre-Frankfurt teaser pic. The coupé has recently been presented in AMG and Black Series versions at more than 500 hp. But for Brabus power is never enough and we could see something way over the top revealed. We can’t wait.

The new Mercedes C-Class coupe is one of the key models for the company in its campaign to appeal to a younger and sportier market and we think it’s working. At least, we like it anyway. Sales of the C Class in Europe kick off about June and a range of five engines will be available, all with start&stop and direct injection.
Three petrol units are on offer: the 1.8-litre turbo which appears on both the C180 (with 156 hp) and the C250 (with 204 hp). There is also the new 3.5-litre V6 with 306 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The diesel offering includes the following: the four-cylinder, 2.1-litre unit in two powersteps of 170 hp and 400 Nm of torque (C220 CDI), and 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque (C250 CDI).
The C Class coupé gets Agility Control for the suspension system which changes from either a comfortable, smooth ride to a sporty, reactive one. Options include a sports suspension set-up with shorter and more rigid springs and shocks, reinforced anti-roll bar and a lowered wheelbase. Mercedes C63 AMG details
In an ideal world, we’re sure we could be the owner of something like this. Mercedes has released all the details on the top-notch performance version of the C-Class Coupe: the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé. The new sports car has an eight-cylinder, 6.2-litre engine with 457 hp, getting up to 486 hp with the AMG Performance Pack.
The C63 AMG coupe performance is up against the BMW M3 with 420 hp and the Audi RS5 with 450 hp. The AMG car really wins on torque, though, with a whopping 600 Nm compared to the 400 and 430 for the BMW and Audi respectively. The C63 AMG reaches 100 km/hr in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/hr.
The Performance Pack version gets composite brakes and some mechanical features from the SLS AMG (pistons and driveshafts) and some added luxury on the interior, including Alcantara steering wheel, sports seats and Piano Black inserts. The AMG Speedshift is the only transmission available and launch control is also featured. The C63 AMG is set apart from the standard coupé for its front and rear AMG bumpers, five-spoke alloy wheels, rear diffusor and chrome exhaust.
Mercedes SLK and C-Class Coupe live at 2011 Geneva Motor Show
The new Mercedes C-Class Coupé and SLK R172 are on display at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The new Mercedes SLK was presented live at Geneva by driver Gary Paffett (who obviously had good things to say). The engine range of the SLK offers two diesel-powered engines and three petrol units. The C-Class Coupé was introduced with a focus on its younger style and sports design, with Mercedes again trying to increase its presence in a younger market segment.
The SLK will be released with all engines available from launch date. There will be: the C220 CDI with 170 hp, the C250 CDI with 204 hp, the C180 with 156 hp, the C250 with 204 and the range topping C350 with 306 hp. The two high-profile models were prefaced at the media conference with a nod to Mercedes’ 125-year anniversary celebrations in 2011, and mention of the B-Class F-Cell world tour currently taking place.

Mercedes C-Class Coupe details
The new Mercedes C-Class Coupé seems to be aimed at a new generation of Mercedes buyers. A little rougher around the edges than the more elegant and luxurious E-Class Coupé, the new C-Class Coupé is set for a male audience of between 35 and 45 years old, who want to drive a Mercedes coupé but don’t want the overt display of class provided by the former. The C-Class maintains driving pleasure as its strong point, keeping a sporty style and dynamics to match.
After the Mercedes CLK disappeared from the scene in 2009, the C-Class is set to re-enter as the new competitor in the same segment as highly successful models like the Audi A5 and the BMW 3 Series coupé. It won’t be an easy task being back in that game, but the Mercedes badge will probably be the first attraction for new buyers.
We talked yesterday of the possible pitfalls in the Mercedes C-Class Coupé design, but otherwise it’s similar to the rest of the family, with the same front end and a few sportier touches to distinguish it. The engine range is nothing short of expansive and impressive. Five powertrain options are available from launch, with three petrol models and two diesels.

The spirit of the Mercedes CLK is back with the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe, seen in these pics. The C-Class Coupe gallery shows off an expectedly elegant car, but doesn’t come with the full press kit and specifications as yet. The design is clearly in the category of good Mercedes coupé, and is definitely part of the C-Class sedan family, perhaps too much so.
The rear end is not as sloped as we would like and the doors are a little short for a two-door coupé model, but we wouldn’t say no to the C-Class Coupé all the same. It will be officially presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and will probably first arrive with two engine options: a 1.8-litre direct-injected turbo unit with 201 hp and 311 Nm (for the C250 model), and the C350 will likely have the 3.5-litre V6 unit with 304 hp and 370 Nm.
These first two models of the C-Class Coupé will have a seven-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. 4Matic all-wheel drive has not been considered so far for the coupé, but we should get an AMG version and of course a series of turbodiesel models, starting with the four-cylinder, 2.1-litre unit with 204 hp and 500 Nm currently used on other C-Class and E-Class models.
