Maserati will show up at the imminent Bologna Motor Show (3-11 December) with a tribute-car dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification: the GranTurismo S Limited Edition. Maserati will produce only 12 models of the series, which will be put up for sale in Italy only. All units will come with exclusive matt Blue Sebring paint job and 20″ alloy wheels, while other highlights include some carbon fibre bit such as lip and rear spoiler, wing mirror shells and door handles as well as polished aluminum calipers, matt black finished side sills and head lamps. As for the interior, the model will use carbon fibre finishing for instrumentation panel, dashboard and console, just like the MC Stradale.
Right in the middle of the console will be placed the usual commemorative plate with official logo and serial number of the model. Technically speaking, the powertrain of the standard model hasn’t been modified, still boasting the already impressive 4.7-litre V8 engine producing 440 hp coupled with signature MC-Shift electro-actuated transmission. As a quick reminder, Maserati GranTurismo S goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds, reaching 295 km/h (183 mph) of top speed.
New pics of the limited edition Masearti Granturismo S MC Sport Line have been released, showing the lovely white Granturismo S which will appear only on the Middle East market with 12 units, and in Italy with 11 units. The limited edition is equipped with the standard Granturismo S engine: the 4.7-litre V8 with 440 hp. It has aerodynamic carbon-fibre features on the exterior, and the carbon look is continued on the interior (more pics after the jump).

Maserati presented its Granturismo S Automatica at the Geneva show, along with its full range of vehicles, though the novelty stole the show. The Granturismo S Automatica show model was equipped with a V8, 4.7 litre engine at 440hp and the six-speed ZF transmission.
Included is electronic Skyhook suspension, new side airbags, 20-inch Trident wheels and Bluetooth connectivity. Seen at the show was also the Quattroporte Sport GT S, equipped with the same engine, sports base, sports exhaust and new aerodynamics.
Maserati also marked the 70th anniversary of the historic Indianapolis victory in 1939, with the “Boyle Special” and its Italian engine. To future aims, however, Maserati is looking to reduce consumption and improve fuel efficiency over the next five years (since 2005 fuel consumption has already decreased by 20 percent).

The upcoming Geneva motor show will feature the Maserati GranTurismo S in Automatic. This Maserati coupè will debut a six speed, automatic transmission, developed by ZF and available on the Quattroporte and base model GranTurismo (the V8 4.2). The GranTurismo S shift will be the same as that installed on the Quattroporte Sport GT S.
The GranTurismo S engine will remain the V8, 4.7L at 440hp with 490Nm, but the automatic version will now feature trident spoke, 20-inch alloy wheels, and new skirting.
When a car leaves a journalist speechless, it means it’s a really beautiful car. As is the case with this official gallery of the new, and splendid, Maserati GranTurismo S: the refined sports version of the coupè from Modena, equipped with a 4.7 V8 at 440 hp. Enough said.

“The period of 2011-2012 will be crucial for our immediate future: departing from such a date we will be able to see the results of the considerable efforts made in these recent years, without forgetting the constant development both technical and motoring, currently underway.” Words from Maserati’s president Roberto Ronchi, who in occasion of the Geneva show, demonstrated optimism in speaking of the Tridente, in the middle of a period of great vitality.
2007 showed itself to be an extraordinary year for the brand, capable of selling 7300 cars and with the aim of reaching 9000 (equally split between the Quattroporte and the GranTurismo) in this current year. The US market is particularly thriving, with an increase equal to 25% - the introduction of the automatic version having produced the desired effect. Even China has supplied its own contribution with 220 cars registered.

A year after the unveiling of the GranTurismo, Maserati will be back at the Geneva International Motorshow with yet another world premiere, the GranTurismo S. The ultimate expression of the Trident coupé’s sportiness shifts the emphasis to performance and driving enjoyment.
Two main novelties are at the heart of the new Maserati: the 440 HP V8 4.7 engine and the electro-actuated gearbox with fast MC-Shift arranged in the Transaxle layout typical of high-performance sports cars that represents the technological DNA of all Maseratis.
The GranTurismo S makes use of the high-performance brake system developed in collaboration with Brembo and introduced for the first time in the automotive field on the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S. The system features front brake discs made with dual-cast technology, a dual casting of cast iron and aluminum, paired with aluminum mono-bloc 6-piston brake calipers, ensuring optimized braking performance.
