These live pics show the Maserati GranCabrio presented to press at the NAIAS 2010 Detroit auto show. The model could receive a new name for the US market, becoming the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible. We think the car is so beautiful, it should work either way. Sergio Marchionne put in an appearance at the show, in a good move after the Fiat-Chrysler deal.
Marchionne also discussed the improved fortunes of the Maserati brand after some significant investment. Globally, the US was the most important market for Maserati in 2009, and the GranCabrio should be a key model in continuing US sales success for the luxury Italian brand.

This Maserati GT4 will race at the Zolder 24 hours race with driver Lorenzo Casè for Amato Ferrari’s Team AF Corse. These pics show a look at the interior of the Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4 as well as under shot to check out the exhaust system.
The Zolder 24 hours takes place on August 22nd, and the Maserati could be headed for success after a first and sixth placing at the Spa circuit in Belgium. The GT4 has been described as a fast, balanced car that is easy to drive with great cornering.
The Maserati Granturismo S automatic version has arrived in Australia and is selling at a price of 328,500 AUD (pre-tax). That equates to about 187,000 euros for the eight cylinder model with its new six-speed transmission.
The normal engine is the V8, 4.7L at 440hp with 490Nm, and other impressive figures include just five seconds to reach 100 km/hr. The Australian version comes with the Skyhook adpative damper system. See our gallery for a look at the Maserati Granturismo S live at the Geneva show this year.

Maserati conceded a quarter hour of freedom to its new GranTurismo Spyder, captured in these spy shots. The Maserati GranTurismo Spyder will be presented in autumn at the Frankfurt motor show, where the debate about what kind of roof it will have will finally be resolved.
LeftLane is betting on a hard top roof, like the Ferrari California, saying that earlier reports had both as an option for customers. It’s still all to be revealed, though the engine range will be that of the coupe, with the V8 4.2 litre and teh 4.7 litre S version available from 2010.

Maserati has confermed its open-top GranTurismo version will be ready for March 2010, and its debut will likely occur at the Geneva motor show next year. The car’s name at this stage is set to be GranTurismo Spyder, according to tradition. Apart from a couple of reconstructions, the type of roof that will be used is still unclear: the choice is between a classic soft top or a more modern hard roof.
It is far more likely that we will see a soft top, and that the GranTurismo Spyder will cost about 130,000 USD. The new Maserati might be available exclusively in the S version, equipped with a 4.7 litre V8 at 440 hp, with automatic shift and Brembo brakes.
Despite the choice between the soft top or hard folding roof, which will increase weight, the Spyder should prove to have similar performance to the GranTurismo coupé.

Here is the first glimpse of the custom “Project M” by Jason Castriota and Bertone Stile, to create a supercar inspired by historic icons such as the Maserati Granturismo and Birdcage.
While we’re in the dark as to the significance of the below gallery, the project is slowly taking place as we get regular episodes on the new project from former Pininfarina designer. After examples such as James Glickenhaus’ P4/5, we can expect something impressive.

Maserati presented its Granturismo S Automatica at the Geneva show, along with its full range of vehicles, though the novelty stole the show. The Granturismo S Automatica show model was equipped with a V8, 4.7 litre engine at 440hp and the six-speed ZF transmission.
Included is electronic Skyhook suspension, new side airbags, 20-inch Trident wheels and Bluetooth connectivity. Seen at the show was also the Quattroporte Sport GT S, equipped with the same engine, sports base, sports exhaust and new aerodynamics.
Maserati also marked the 70th anniversary of the historic Indianapolis victory in 1939, with the “Boyle Special” and its Italian engine. To future aims, however, Maserati is looking to reduce consumption and improve fuel efficiency over the next five years (since 2005 fuel consumption has already decreased by 20 percent).

The upcoming Geneva motor show will feature the Maserati GranTurismo S in Automatic. This Maserati coupè will debut a six speed, automatic transmission, developed by ZF and available on the Quattroporte and base model GranTurismo (the V8 4.2). The GranTurismo S shift will be the same as that installed on the Quattroporte Sport GT S.
The GranTurismo S engine will remain the V8, 4.7L at 440hp with 490Nm, but the automatic version will now feature trident spoke, 20-inch alloy wheels, and new skirting.

The red button spied in this odd Maserati could mean everything or nothing. The mysterious GranTurismo in this photograph may not be the mule for a future hybrid Maserati… or then again it could be.
The exhaust doesn’t really help clear things up as it could indicate a Maserati electric engine, or could simply be a ‘normal’, banal Maserati like any other. Enough! We’ll leave you to decide the possibility of this being a Maserati hybrid or not.
