The lovely Maserati GranCabrio Sport will go on show at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show as the peppered-up version of the GranCabrio. The new Sport version will be equipped with a 4.7-litre V8 engine with an expected 450 hp and 510 Nm of torque. Top speed is up to 285 km/hr, while fuel consumption is down by six percent on the previous version.
The Maserati GranCabrio Sport gets the ZF gearbox with MC-Auto Shift transmission software which has already appeared on the Quattroporte Sport GT S. The Skyhook suspension system has been updated for the new model and a new set of brakes is included.
Maserati is going for sporty but elegant look with a new aerodynamic kit, ‘dark look’ and body colour features instead of chrome trim and new set of headlights and side skirts. It will be available for summer this year.
The new Maserati GranCabrio video is very much the ‘beautiful people’ lifestyle video with not much focus on the car itself, apart from a good look at its interior. The GranCabrio is the open top version of the Maserati GranTurismo and has the same 4.7-litre V8 engine with 440 hp. It costs about 135,000 euros and could be considered one of the sexiest cars around.
Fernando Alonso drives a Ferrari F1, a Ferrari 458 Italia and now also a Maserati Gran Cabrio. If that’s not reason to be envious, then I don’t know what is. These pics show Alonso with his Maserati Gran Cabrio, which would have to be one of the sexiest cabrios around (Mercedes AirScarf systems notwithstanding). Check out the lovely vehicle in the gallery below.
These live pics show the Maserati GranCabrio presented to press at the NAIAS 2010 Detroit auto show. The model could receive a new name for the US market, becoming the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible. We think the car is so beautiful, it should work either way. Sergio Marchionne put in an appearance at the show, in a good move after the Fiat-Chrysler deal.
Marchionne also discussed the improved fortunes of the Maserati brand after some significant investment. Globally, the US was the most important market for Maserati in 2009, and the GranCabrio should be a key model in continuing US sales success for the luxury Italian brand.

The Maserati Gran Cabrio, open top version of the Granturismo, is turning out to be quite a fascinating model for people. In addition to the lovely Gran Cabrio gallery, here are a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure. It should be available next year, with the Gran Cabrio pricing set at 135,000 euros.
Currently the only engine option available for the Gran Cabrio is the 4.7-litre V8 with 440 hp. If you want to dream a little, or you can actually afford to purchase one, here is the Gran Cabrio configurator for you to play with. Another video with some great engine noise is after the jump.

The Maserati Gran Cabrio will cost 135,000 euros on the local market in Italy, and will be ready for the road next spring. The price is about 12,000 euros more than the coupé GranTurismo S with the same engine. The Gran Cabrio will be equipped with that same 4.7-litre V8, with 439 hp and a traditional automatic gearbox. It has a top speed of 290 km/hr and reaches 100 km/hr in five seconds.
The Gran Cabrio at 135,000 is very much the base model and includes navigator, bi-xenon headlights and electronically controlled Skyhook suspension system. Among the long list of optional extras are pearl finish tint at 7,800 euros, internal wood finish at 2,400 euros and a twin tone interior will set you back 6,000 euros.
Other accessories that could have been included on the standard model include anti-glare rear vision mirrors at 456 euros, windbreak protection at 960 euros, MP3 reader at another 360 euros. If you want tyre pressure sensors you pay 840 euros and front parking sensors come in at 780 euros. The Maserati Gran Cabrio debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show is seen in these live pics, but it was a frustrating wait after what seemed to be interminable speeches and a long-winded retracing of Maserati’s cabrio past, from the 3500GT Vignale from 1960, passing through the sublime Mistral and Ghibli models, before arriving at the Spyder of 2001.
All lovely, but whatever! Finally the wraps were off and here is the lovely open-top Maserati Gran Cabrio with its 4.7-litre V8 engine in an alluminium frame for rigidity and lightweight performance.

Here’s a look at the Maserati Gran Cabrio, with a peek at the roof up as well. Whether down or up, we think you’ll agree it’s a lovely motorcar. And with the long waiting list, it’s probably the only glimpse we’re likely to get.
Available from spring next year to those lucky enough to have ordered it, the Gran Cabrio will be equipped with two V8 engine options as appear on the coupè: a 4.2 litre unit with 405 hp, and a 4.7-litre unit with 440 hp, offered only in the S version.
