More details on Lamborghini Aventador, Sesto Elemento and Estoque

Lamborghini Aventador test mule

While Lamborghini had nothing on show at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, in an outside event, CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed a few more details about the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador (as it’s currently known). Still no confirmations have taken place about the name and so the following details refer to what the company is still calling its Lamborghini 834 model. Replacing the Murcielago won’t be an easy task, but previous details indicate that Lambo is doing an excellent job with its new vehicle, and for those less concerned about technical prowess, the brand pulling power should generate a heap of interest once the new V12 finally gets released.

The style is said to be “revolutionary but recognisable”, inspired by the military (much like the Reventon), and will have scissor doors and large air intakes. The label that was previously launched of LP700-4 indicates all-wheel drive and that has since been confirmed. We’re not so convinced about Lamborghini’s claim to occupy the pinnacle of the weight-power battle as McLaren got there first with its all-carbon fibre, single shell body, but the new Lamborghini will have a full monocoque carbon-fibre chassis. Meanwhile, the company has also patented its own process known as the RTM (Resin Transfer Moulded) mode of using carbon fibre.

The Aventador will have a brand new 6.5-litre V12 which Lamborghini claims has 18 percent more power, but 20 percent less CO2 emissions than the Murcielago powertrain it replaces. The rest of the details, including the power and torque, and the new ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) transmission are all as previously mentioned. Apparently there will be five different shifting modes which adjust both the smoothness and time of gear change: Auto, Autostrada, Strada, Sport and Corsa. The last mode marks the sportiest of them, with a shift time of 50 milliseconds, compared to the 300 milliseconds of the more relaxed Autostrada mode.

You can read the rest of the details on Autoblog.com, but as a finally piece of info, communications director Raffaele Porro revealed that Lamborghini is considering the business case of both the Sesto Elemento and the Estoque. The latter will be a natural expansion of the Lamborghini range, rather than embarking on an SUV model, while if the Sesto Elemento gets produced, it will probably not be a homologated model.

Lamborghini Aventador on sale

By Alison

Lamborghini_Aventador_on_sale

After reports that the German car dealership of Auto Salon Singen had the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept on sale, according to its website you can also purchase among the first examples of the new Lamborghini Aventador. We should note that this name still has not been officially confirmed by the company, but “Aventador LP700-4″ is more than likely the new Lamborghini V12 badge.

The web page includes the Aventador technical details but there is nothing to add to what we know so far: all-wheel drive, 700 hp, 690 Nm of torque, acceleration to 100 km/hr of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/hr. No image has been included for the car so we still don’t have any official pictures of the Aventador but the price is quoted as 260, 420 euros, excluding taxes.

First Lamborghini Sesto Elemento example sold?

By Alison

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept - live at Paris 2010

Yesterday we reported that the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento concept could become the 50-year anniversary vehicle for the company in 2013, and now rumours suggest that the first example of the model which appeared at the 2010 Paris Motor Show has actually been sold. The car could apparently enter a limited production run with the first unit already sold through the Autosalon Singen dealer - one of the world’s most famous luxury car dealerships.

The report says that the only ten models of the Sesto Elemento will be sold in Germany (this might seem a little strange) for the eyebrow-raising price of about 2,300,000 euros, taxes included. If there is any truth to this, that would still make the car significantly cheaper than the 2,500,000 estimated recently.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento production car for 50-year anniversary?

By Alison

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept - live at Paris 2010

Lamborghini will celebrate 50 years of company history in 2013 and according to rumours, it’s already working on a special edition vehicle to celebrate the event. The reports say that it could be a brand new Lambo we’ll be seeing, and not a celebratory version of a current model like the Countach 25, Diablo SE30 or Murcielago 40th Anniversary of the past. According to SportAuto.fr the Lamborghini anniversary model could be the production version of the Sesto Elemento Concept which was presented in October at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Whether that proves to be the case, the Lamborghini 50-year anniversary will be something to celebrate and we expect big things from the company anyway.

Lamborghini Aventador: the Murcielago replacement or Sesto Elemento production model?

By Alison

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept - live at Paris 2010

All sorts of goodies are coming from Lamborghini, starting with the Murcielago subsitute. The name was widely believed to be the Jota but it turns out that it will most probably be called the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. The name was revealed in the Murcielago replacement presentation held at Sant’Agata recently, away from the prying ears of journalists.

The presentation took place with some faithful Lamborghini clients present and the name choice has fallen to that of a famous breed of fighting bulls. The Aventador is reported to be a stylistic evolution on the Gallardo, with some elements from the Reventon supercar concept, as well.

It will have a 6.5-litre V12 engine with 700 hp, all-wheel drive and a seven-speed sequential gearbox. It will have a monocoque carbon chassis, reducing weight by about 230 kg with torsional rigidity up by about 70 percent. The performance figures sound very curious: 0-100 in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/hr. More after the jump.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept live from 2010 Paris Motor Show

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept - live at Paris 2010

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept has been presented live at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and as usual we’re there with our Autoblog.it colleagues to bring you all the live pics and news. The Sesto Elemento Concept is a brutal sports car weighing just 999 kg. It’s Lamborghini’s first example of its new supersports car manifesto - same power but less weight.

The Sesto Elemento Concept is based on the Gallardo Superleggera LP570-4 and is equipped with the same 5.2-litre V10 with 570 hp and 540 Nm of torque. The new Lambo concept uses carbon fibre for the internal shell of the car’s cabin, the entire front end, the bodywork and the bumpers. The engine and this extensive use of the lightweight carbon material have combined to create some explosive performance figures.

The Sesto Elemento has a power-weight ratio of 1.75 kg/hp. It reaches 100 km/hr in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of “well over 300 km/hr”. It’s exactly the kind of supercar innovation that Lamborghini should be investing in and while carbon fibre has become famous, the company has also experimented with other modern materials, such as Pyrosic for the exhaust system (a new glass and ceramic composite material). The carbon fibre bodywork gets a transparent finish creating an opaque look and red micro-crystals add that touch of colour we saw in the teaser pics.
