All good things must come to an end, and so does this excellent Lamborghini documentary with its seventh episode dedicated to the Sesto Elemento, the high-performance concept car designed by Lamborghini for the 2010 Paris Motor Show. For the ones who don’t know, the sixth element in the periodic table is carbon, which explains the name’s choice: this vehicle’s chassis, body, driveshaft and suspension are in fact made of carbon fiber, which has reduced Lamborghini Sesto Elemento’s overall weight to an astonishing 999 kilograms (2,200 lb).
And its lightness, combined with the power of its V10 motor, has enabled this concept car to reach outstanding standards in terms of performance: 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).
Rumours have been circulating for a while but now it’s official: Stephan Winkelmann - President and CEO of the Italian sports car manufacturer - has confirmed that Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is going to hit its production stage very soon. This stunning car will be featuring a reduced weight of 999 kg thanks to the use of carbon fibre and 570 HP which translates into a kg/ HP ratio of 1.75, guaranteeing 0-100 km/h in 2.5 sec.
Only 20 models will be produced and they will all end up on the racing track. The first deliveries are expected to start in 2013.

The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show is gearing up to be a busy event and news is out that Lamborghini is issuing invitations to a press event to discover “a new Lamborghini super sports car”.
And really, that’s the end of this story because there are no other clues as to what we might see. Two models are so far the favourites in guessing about what we might see - the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster or the roadgoing version of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento.
We think it’s probably still a bit early for the Aventador Roadster but with all the hard top versions sold already, why not start on the roadster anyway? It has previously been rumoured that the Sesto Elemento would turn up in October this year, but in the meantime other contenders for the mystery model are the Lamborghini Cabrera Gallardo replacement or the Lamborghini SUV. Place your bets as we wait for September.
After the Lamborghini Aventador debuted to much glitter at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, attention has turned once again to the models possibly to appear in a future Lamborghini line-up. These are purely rumours at this stage, so we’ll take them as such to avoid disappoint.
According to the Team Speed forum the following Lamborghini product plan will happen:
2011: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder
2012: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster and top-ranging Lamborghini Sesto Elemento
2013: the new Lamborghini Gallardo, currently called the Cabrera (pure speculation here, too)
The next three years that follow will be busy as well with an onslaught of:
