Watch Koenigsegg Agera R going from 0 to 300 km/h (video)

By Adrian

A while ago Koenigsegg released a video showing the immense power of its own Agera R, a super coupe equipped with a 5-litre twin turbo V8. The Swidish sportscar has conquered many speed records recently, including the new world’s best for 0-300 km/h acceleration with 14.53 seconds, for 0-200 mph (about 322 km/h) with 17.68 seconds and also for the 0-300-0 km/h with 21.19 seconds, 0-200-0 mph with 24.96 seconds, the 300-0 km/h with 6.66 sec and 200-0 mph 7.28 seconds.

Koenigsegg Agera R first pics

Koenigsegg Agera R spy shots

Here are the first pics of the new Koenigsegg Agera R sports version of the Swedish hypercar, where we get a very good look at the design. It seems the updated model has been made for a client who apparently wanted more than the 910 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque on the original model. If the Agera R doesn’t turn out to be just a one-off we could see it debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and frankly, we’d be only too happy to see this in person. Performance stats for the moment are a sprint to 100 km/hr of 3.1 seconds (apparently some rear tyre grip difficulties have meant this figure isn’t reduced), and a top speed of over 400 km/hr.

Christian von Koenigsegg first Saab 9-5 customer in Sweden

Koenigsegg first Saab 9-5 customer

Christian von Koenigsegg didn’t pull off his bid to buy Saab and was actually the protagonist of a clamorous exit from the bidding scene. But it appears that experience hasn’t ruined his opinion of Saab as Koenigsegg (the man not the supercar company) has become the first owner of a Saab 9-5 in Sweden. It’s not every day we get to write a cute news piece like this and whether it’s simple coincidence or a move by Spyker to get some publicity, good luck to them!

GM to sell Saab to Koenigsegg Group by August

By Alison

Saab 9-5 render

As General Motors emerges from bankruptcy, the proceedings of the last few months are being felt in Europe as Saab finalises deals for its sale next month. According to reports a binding agreement to sell the Saab brand to the Koenigsegg Group will occur by the end of the month.

Saab is preparing its new 9-5 for production and its official presentation in September, before sales commence in spring 2010. The Koenigsegg deal would mean that GM transfers equipment to the Trollhättan facilities to manufacture the 9-5.

Saab has been working on its 9-5 business plan, with possible targets of 45,000 units to be produced per year, similar to the current model. The aim is to have a three percent share of the global 1.2 million large car market.

Koenigsegg Ginevra 2009

The Koenigsegg Quant has been revealed at the Geneva motor show, along with the presentation of its new multimedia system with CCX touchscreen. Further modifications see an impressive upgrade of the transmission, now 30 centimetres shorter than the current manual. The sequence is even more compact than a twin clutch system, and is matched to a new autobloc differential.
