Jaguar presents at the Los Angeles Auto Show the XKR-S Cabriolet, a convertible variation of the XKR-S. In comparison to the old XK, the model boasts the same differences of the coupe version it derives from, meaning new aerodynamics, dedicated setting, 20″ alloys (fitted with 255/35 and 295/30 tyres) carbon fibre inserts in the cabin with electronically adjustable racing seats and, especially, the new supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine delivering 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque. With a limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 4.4 seconds, the XKR-S Cabriolet is the fastest convertible model ever produced by Jaguar. The car uses a 6-speed automatic transmission, limited slip differential and (thanks to the intensive use of aluminum) weighs only 1,795 kg.

In order to handle all this power, the frame has been strengthened in the rear suspension area - which is different from the XKR-S Coupe - so that torsional stiffness can reach 16.500 Nm/Rad, which is an excellent value for this type of car. At the moment there is no information about price and availability of this model, which will be revealed to the European public ant the next Geneva Motor Show in March 2012.

If beautiful Italian cars find their habitat gracing the lawns at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is surely the place for British supercars. This year the Jaguar XKR-S supercoupé will be present at Goodwood, and in this video we see it do an early run of the Goodwood Hill. We’ve already heard the XKR-S engine rumble in a track video, and here we see it in white purring its way through the English countryside.

This Jaguar has one very nasty purr and we love it! The Jaguar XKR-S track video sees the new pussy cat step out on the Portimao track and flex its claws a little. What we get at the end of it is no puss-in-boots but a very powerful and purposeful larger member of the feline family.

The Jaguar XKR-S is the most powerful Jaguar built so far, which first appeared at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. It has a 5.5-litre V8 engine with 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque. The Portimao track is designed to test its mettle, and its chassis comes off very well. The commentary takes us through just what it’s like to drive the XKR-S on the track. We’re not used to seeing out British supercars this mean, but you’ve got to love the XKR-S and this video will show you why.

This video of the Jaguar XKR-S is tantalising as we get snatches of that new XKR-S engine and exhaust sound. As per usual, we’d like more of the car itself and less of the soundtrack, but on the whole Jaguar has given us an overall great video of the XKR-S driving on the road and the track.

In fact, this is probably as close as we’ll get to the adrenalin-producing 550 hp. The 5.5-litre V8 has all those ponies, and 680 Nm of torque, giving it a top speed of 300 km/hr and a sprint to 100 of 4.4 seconds. We want one, badly.

While this version of the leaping cat leaves behind elegance and traditional Jag class, it’s purpose is about providing an ostentatiously sporty car.

The Jaguar XKR-S is the most extreme car from the company, with a muscular feel and fast looks. It’s also designed to anticipate the future restyling of the other XK models, which should a slightly more elegant front. The XKR-S is the fastest and most powerful Jaguar ever built with 550 hp and a top speed of 300 km/hr.

This isn’t intended to be just a supersports coupé with all the driving pleasure that comes with 550 hp, as Jaguar has kept its luxury comfort for an everyday driving experience, too. The engine is an AJ-V8 Gen III R: that is, an eight-cylinder direct injection unit with 680 Nm of torque. Sprint to 100 km/hr is just 4.4 seconds, and CO2 emissions are under 300 g/km.

These live pics from Geneva show the new XKR-S super coupé and the neon blue livery only furthers the idea of the powerful 5.0-litre V8 hidden in the bonnet. The Jaguar XKR-S has 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque and is capable of reaching 100 km/hr in just 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km/hr. The Jaguar XK coupé will get a supersports version at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in the form of the Jaguar XKR-S. The new model houses a supercharged version of the 5.0-litre V8 engine, with power now up to 542 hp and about 680 Nm of torque.

Added to those figures the Jaguar XKR-S makes it to 100 km/hr in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/hr. Those are the only details on the technical front, although a few modifications have been made to make this weapon easier to drive. There is stiffer front suspension and front and rear springs, wider rear tyres, a lowered height and new dampers to make steering more precise.

According to Autocar there is also a new exhaust system but it is being used for better sound, rather than to improve performance. Described as an Aston Martin competitor, Jaguar has really pulled out the big guns to compete in the premium supersports coupé segment, and we can expect a price tag to match.
