Jaguar is working on engineering prototypes of its new E-Type, which will finally replace the iconic Jag sometime in 2013. With a nod to the US car market, the new E-Type could actually debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The new Jaguar E-Type will be an all-aluminium car in coupé and cabriolet versions with a V6 petrol engine. A V8 engine is expected to be revealed later after launch date, but there’s no word on whether we will see a V6 diesel in the future.
The E-Type model will share the same platform as the future Jaguar XK, and while that has provided some problems, we apparently should get an E-Type which is as wide as the current XK, but significantly shorter. Styling details are expected to be borrowed from the CX-75 Supercar concept, especially in the front end, and there could be significant demand from female buyers in the US for the new “XKE”.

The Jaguar XK coupé will get a supersports version at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in the form of the Jaguar XKR-S. The new model houses a supercharged version of the 5.0-litre V8 engine, with power now up to 542 hp and about 680 Nm of torque.
Added to those figures the Jaguar XKR-S makes it to 100 km/hr in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/hr. Those are the only details on the technical front, although a few modifications have been made to make this weapon easier to drive. There is stiffer front suspension and front and rear springs, wider rear tyres, a lowered height and new dampers to make steering more precise.
According to Autocar there is also a new exhaust system but it is being used for better sound, rather than to improve performance. Described as an Aston Martin competitor, Jaguar has really pulled out the big guns to compete in the premium supersports coupé segment, and we can expect a price tag to match.
If the truth be told, the world has a love affair with Britain - its history, culture and a style all its own. The British Empire is perhaps one of the greatest the world will ever see and this wonderful video celebrates 75 years of Jaguar: now owned by a company from a country that was a former British colony. But perhaps Tata Motors from India is one of the better placed companies to appreciate that class that English cars seem to have, with a combination of Indian know-how and a country with its own turbulent but noble history.
The models shown in this celebration of 75 years of Jaguar include: the original SS100, then the XK120, XK150 and the legendary race cars of the C and D-Type. We also get a look at the famous MKII sports sedan from the 1960’s, and also the E-Type. The 1970’s are represented by the XJ and the XJS coupé, and the XJR sports prototype.
These days, under Tata leadership, Jaguar is dedicating itself to some of the sexier sedans and coupés we’ve seen recently, with the strategic XF, the new XJ and the coupé and spider XK models. While we see less of pure racing pursuits in the company, Jaguar looks to embark on a new heyday which will include hybrid options in this modern era of environmental consciousness. Check out the video above for a look at historic Jaguar models in its 75th anniversary year.

Here’s one spy shot of the interior of the Jaguar XK 2009, the restyled version of the sports car that will be presented at the Detroit motor show. In addition to the restyling, the engine range will also be updated and for the first time on a two-door Jaguar, a turbo diesel option will be introduced to the range.
The interior will take on the Jaguar Driver Selector from the XF sedan, which you can see in the photo. The wheel in the middle has the function of controlling the automatic transmission, and we will also likely see the DSC system, balance control, electronic handbrake, speed control and Winter and Dynamic management.
