A new Jaguar XE roadster is ready to debut in concept form at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, according to Autocar. It is apparently set to provide some stiff competition to the Porsche Boxster and Autocar claims its source says that the new XE “will blow the rest of the industry away”.

Them’s fightin’ words - but just how will Jaguar do it? Well, apart from the Frankfurt debut which might ruffle a few German feathers, the Jaguar XE will “express lightness” in a new styling principle which will project to the world that the models are made entirely from aluminium.

The XE could follow the spirit of the E-Type but is not considered a revival attempt. We will get some similar styling with inspiration from models such as the 1963 Lightweight car. The aluminium roadster platform will give way to a car 4.3 metres long with rear-wheel drive.

Jaguar: supercar underway for 2010

By Alison

Jaguar XF-R

AutoExpress has released some very juicy news, revealing that at the 2010 Geneva show, Jaguar is set to present a mid-engined super sports car, for the moment called XE. This is big news for anyone who was waiting for an heir to the XJ220.

Jaguar looks to have got its grunt back under the Tata Motors management and while nothing is confirmed, post-Ford management, the brand is undergoing a sports comeback with some ambitious projects.

It is said this supercar could adopt the new 5-litre V8 supercharged at 510hp, presented on the XF-R currently on show at the Detroit auto show. If the project comes to light, it will be the first mid-engined Jaguar since the XJ220. We can’t help but be happy.

Jaguar XKR-S

We took for granted the fact that if Jaguar were to throw itself into the SUV mix, in could obfuscate the Land Rover products, and so the Jaguar future will focus on sports vehicles, as revealed by Ratan Tata. No Jaguar SUV is in the making.

In the course of an interview with Automotive News, the president of the Indian industrial group has confirmed face-lifts for the R-R version of the Xk, with 2010 being set as the date for the debut of the new Jaguar Xj. As such, Tata has confirmed what market expectations were already.
