Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore to production

By Alison

The Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore which celebrates 150 years of Italian unification, will get a production run, says the company. Lamborghini has said that the Tricolore edition will “not be a one-off, nor will it be a limited series”. So we take that to mean it will be a standard option in the Gallardo line-up.

The Tricolore is a Gallardo LP550-2 model based on the rear-wheel drive Valentino Balboni model. It features an off-centre stripe in red, white and green on an elegant white background. We’re not sure exactly of the production details, but this could be one of last special Gallardo’s we see before the next generation compact Lambo turns up.

If the Lamborghini product plan we posted yesterday is anything to go by, the new Gallardo will be called the Lamborghini Cabrera and will appear as early as 2013. In the meantime, we’ll happily enjoy the lovely little Gallardo Tricolore.

Lamborghini Gallardo Tricole pics: Happy Birthday Italy!

By Alison

Today, March 17, Italy celebrates 150 years of unification and this Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore has been created especially for the occasion. The model features white exterior tint with an off-centre tricolour stripe in Italian colours and blacked-out wheels. It’s an elegant tribute to Italy’s anniversary and a fitting homage from one of the world’s most famous Italian brands.

The Gallardo Tricolore model is based on the LP550-2 and has 550 hp and 540 Nm of torque. The lack of all-wheel drive saves 120 kg on the LP560-4 model. Acceleration to 100 km/hr takes just 3.9 seconds and top speed is 320 km/hr. Lamborghini may have just released its new Aventador, but it’s using an old favourite to party. See all the lovely Gallardo Tricolore pics below.

Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore first pic

Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore first pic

This first pic of the Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore has been released. After revealing the brand new Aventador at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, this Gallardo with Italy’s three flag colours has been made to celebrate 150 years of the unification of Italy. The model will go on display at an exhibition in Turin dedicated to the important anniversary.

The Gallardo Tricolore sports lovely white livery and a stripe of Italy’s tri-colour flag down the side, following the same idea as that used on the Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni. It’s an elegant homage to Italy’s unification anniversary from one of the country’s most famous brands. So far no technical details or production numbers have been released.

Lamborghini Gallardo three-tone to follow Gallardo Bicolore special edition?

By Alison

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera new pics

After reports that we would see a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 twin-tone version at the Detroit Auto Show, more has been added to that rumour, with speculations that there will also be a three-tone model. The two Gallardo models will be called Bicolore and Tricolore and we should see at least the former at the show in January. It will have Callisto alloy wheels, redesigned interior and a black roof matched to yellow, white, grey, orange and green colour schemes.

The Lamborghini Gallardo SE is a past twin-tone version which also had a black roof. 250 units of it were produced. The new version offers this kind of treatment again, and could be extended to a three-tone model which could appear at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. We’re thinking it might be a “tricolore” version with the colours of the Italian flag, possibly in light of festivities celebrating 150 years of Italian unification, but that’s pure speculation.
