Toyota FT-86 TRD: ecco il kit estetico ufficiale

There seems to be no end to the continuous leaking of information and images concerning the upcoming Toyota FT-86. The new rear wheel drive coupe from the Japanese manufacturer will offer plenty of options for its customization, as this snapshot of the official Toyota Racing Development (TRD) brochure confirms. If you weren’t happy enough with the Modellista version - whose images leaked just a while ago - here is an optional body kit from Toyota consisting of front lip spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser.

In regard to more ‘meaty’ upgrades, adjustable sports suspension, high performance brakes, sporty exhausts and air filters, strut tower brace and 18″ alloy wheels will be made available as optional extras. Push-button ignition and HID headlights will also be available upon request. The official unveiling of the model will take place at the imminent 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

Toyota FT-86: nuova fuga di immagini

Another bunch of snapshots taken from Toyota FT-86 brochures leaked onto the internet. It is in fact the third time in less than a week that sneaky pics of the FT-86 surface, although this lot has better quality and shows several details we did not see before. At the same time, it is yet another signal that the anticipation for this is model is reaching boiling point the world over as the day of its official unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show (December 3-11) approaches.

The long-awaited front-mounted-engine rear-wheel-drive car will be powered by a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated boxer engine mated to a Subaru 6-speed manual transmission. Although there’s no official confirmation on the subject, it seems more and more likely that the model will end up adopting the same name of the prototype, which is FT-86. Still no word on price.

Toyota FT-86: more brochure images available

By Adrian

Toyota FT-86 catalogo

Carscoop has published more images of Toyota FT-86 which are actually snapshots of the brochure that will be made available at the Toyota stand during the imminent 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. It is exactly the same thing that just happened for the Modellista version. The model pictured this time is an anticipation of the FT-86 we will see in Europe, although the finishing might be slightly different. However, under the bonnet, will pulse a 200 hp 4 cylinder boxer engine coupled with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission with paddles behind the steering wheel. The car will weight less than 1.300 kg.

Toyota FT-86: official Japanese brochure surfaces on the internet

Toyota FT-86 Modellista 2012

Images of Toyota FT-86 official brochure - of the same kind that will be available at the upcoming 2011 Tokyo Motor Show - have surfaced on the internet. This particular brochure pictures the Modellista version, featuring several optional accessories such as slightly different aerodynamics and interior finishing. However, the images are good enough to give us an idea on how the long-awaited rear wheel drive coupe from the Japanese car-maker is going to look like.

These images were firstly anticiapated by CarSpyshots.com and then taken up by Spanish Autoblog.com, and are currently spreading all across the internet. Among the most significant details that can be spotted through these images there is the instrumentaion (featuring a rev counter right in the middle that redlines at 7500 rpm), the quite short automatic transmission lever, manual transmission paddle shifters and the pretty minimal dashboard console, that features a compartment for a possible touch-screen multimedia system. As for the exterior, FT-86 final design basically confirms what we had already seen before through concept cars and spy shots. The only notable differnce is that LED day lights have been integrated with the headlights, whereas the latest prototype had them built in the front bumper.

As for now it is still unclear wheather the model will maintain the FT-86 name (originally conceived as a tribute to AE-86 Trueno) or will eventually switch to a more commercial moniker, with the historic ‘Celica’ name rumored to be one of the strogest contenders.
