What we have here is … well, a shiny blue Ferrari F40. We know the kind of faces you are pulling now, everyone feels the same when facing a Ferrari which is not dressed in classic red, but we have seen other production models along the years coming out with black, yellow, white and silver liveries as well. However, this is not Ferrari F40’s case as the only way one of these babes ever came out of the Maranello factory is in a red costume.
The pictured model has been allegedly spotted and shot in Shinagawa, one of the most trendy and sophisticated areas in Tokyo. We do know this might as well be a fake photoshop creation unleashed on the internet by some maniac or something, but still it gives us an hint on how a blue Ferrari F40 would look like. And you should have seen that look on your face.

This in-house Ferrari battle pits the 599 GTB Fiorano against the F40 in what is described by Ferrari as the “duel for the crown”. It’s three minutes no Ferrari fan wants to miss. The older Ferrari might not be up to the technical challenge, but it has its own charm with that spikey, angular look and a traditional gear shift that purists will love.
The Ferrari F40 has a V8 engine with 478 hp and in the technical stats at the end of the video, Ferrari claims a sprint to 100 km/hr of 4.1 seconds. It’s hard to make a comparison when age is a factor, but the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano obviously comes in less at 3.7 seconds and has 620 hp from its V12. The video shows just how fast both these models can go.
Our colleagues at Autoblog.it describe the Ferrari F40 engine as the “sound of old glory”. They recently had the chance to meet a Ferrari F40 in mint condition and filmed this example of its engine revving. The camera angles are a little jerky, but we get the chance to hear the racy and rude engine.
The Ferrari F40 design looks a bit dated right now as the vehicle was produced between 1987 and 1992, but that takes nothing away from its historical significance as a piece of technical wizadry for Ferrari. The F40 was equipped with a turbocharge V8 which produced 470 hp. For two years from 1987 to 1989 it held the record of the world’s fastest street-legal production car - hear why in the video.
In what may turn out to become a legend in car challenges, this video from Autocar seeks to answer the question: can any of today’s Ferrari’s beat one that was built 20 years ago? And so we get a video that puts two of Ferrari’s historic models head-to-head: the 430 Scuderia, hero of Ferrari’s modern technologies, and the Ferrari F40 which debuted back in 1987 to celebrate 40 years of the company. Can the latter still prove it is one of the most innovative sports cars ever made?
Over to the video to find out, but one little secret - driving pleasure is all about weight loss. Enjoy and here’s hoping you do get some sleep.
