Ferrari announces 599 GTB ‘60F1’ Limited Edition

By Adrian

Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1

In order to say goodbye to one of its most important models and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its first ever Formula 1 victory, Ferrari will launch a special edition 599 GTB Fiorano, dubbed the 60F1 and based on the 599 with HGTE package (which features stiffer springs, a thicker rear stabilizer bar, recalibrated shocks, lower ride height and stickier tires.). The series is meant to celebrate Argentina’s Froilan Gonzalez, who clinched the first victory ever in the Formula 1 with a Ferrari 375 F1 - at Silverstone, on July 14th, 1951 - as well as current Scuderia Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso, who secured the team’s first win of the 2011 on the same circuit.

The 599 GTB ‘60F1’ Limited Edition boasts modifications to both exterior and cabin with detailing, colours and materials inspired by Gonzalez’s and Alonso’s cars. The exterior is available in three different liveries: the ‘375 F1′ livery is painted the same dark red as Gonzalez’s 375 F1, the ‘Ferrari 150 Italia’ color scheme has the Scuderia 2011 red used for Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari 150° Italia with white inserts all around and the colors of the italian flag painted on the rear, whereas the ‘Ferrari 150° Italia 2′ livery uses the same red but with some white on the lower part of the bumpers only and no Italian tricolor at the back.

All versions use a racing-like shield on the front wheel arches as well as a satin-finish aluminum fuel filler cap and 20″ diamond-finish forged alloys. Seats will ve courtesy of Sabelt in Europe and Recaro in the American version, and will be upholstered in black Alcantara with a Scuderia Ferrari logo stitched onto the headrests. The four-point safety harnesses are in the Red and Blue specified by FIA for the 2010-2011 Formula 1 Championship, but for all those markets where four-point safety harnesses cannot be homologated, three points red safety harnesses will be made available.

First spy shots of the new Ferrari GT!

By Adrian

First spy shots of the new Ferrari GT

Here are the very first spy shots of what will become Ferrari 599 GTB’s successor, a new Ferrari GT currently codenamed F152. At the moment there is not even a confirmation about the name of the model, although the name F620 has been rumored several times.

This new Ferrari GT will maintain the front mounted engine and should be using a 6.3-liter V12 unit delivering more than 700 hp. In this case, it will be more powerful than both the FF and the 599 GTO and - especially - more powerful than the Lamborghini Aventador. Power will be delivered to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with a F1 style electronic differential.

The pictured mule is very heavily disguised, so there is not much we can see of the bodywork design, but it is expected to be an evolution of the 599 style, possibly with some details lifted from the 458 Italia and the FF. The chassis should make large use of aluminum parts, a move that would make this new model way lighter than the car it will replace. We just can’t wait to see how this machine will shape up, but for now we can just imagine how it would look like with those heavy cloths off. The new Ferrari GT is expected to be unveiled at the next Geneva Motor Show, in March 2012, and then go on sale in late 2012.

Ferrari 599 GTB: Alonso special edition in the works?

By Adrian

Ferrari 599 GTO

Ferrari 599 GTB is approaching the end of its glorious history as the new front mounted V12 car of the Italian manufacturer that will replace it is expected to surface next March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. However, rumor has it that the 599 GTB could go out with a bang as a special Fernando Alonso limited edition could be produced as a final tribute to this successful model.

The model is expected to be lighter and quicker than all others production cars from the Maranello-based automaker, including the 1495 kg GTO. It is reported that the Fernando Alonso edition will consist of 40 units only and should become available this coming January. We would like to stress out that at this moment there is no official confirmation about this project, but it would surely be a nice way to say ‘goodbye’ to such an exciting car.

New Ferrari 599 GTB test mule on track video

By Alison

This video shows some of the first track tests for the new mid-to front engine Ferrari V12 model which will subsitute the 599 GTB in 2013. A new headlight design and rear bumper set-up seem to indicate mechanical changes to the vehicle although it’s very premature to speculate on what they all might be. One focus will certainly be the reduction in fuel consumption and emissions and we could see some significant engine development on the new V12 to that effect.

Ferrari: spy photos of the 599 GTB Spider?

By Julia

foto spia Ferrari 599 GTB Spider

There are those who swear that these spy photos show the future Ferrari 599 GTB Spider. After having taken the pictures, the Czech Ferrari site decided on the least immediate solution. According to them, the irrefutable proof: the car body of the California is in fact replaced by one similar to that of the Fiorano. This is sufficient to declare the arrival of a new drop-top version.

But the logical thread is rather tangled. It is enough to look at the front of the prototype to understand its manifold descent - lights from the Quattroporte, fenders from the California, hood from the 599. Therefore many hypotheses arise - a Tridente coupe, or perhaps a different engine - even if we don’t disregard the possibility of a Modena coupe-cabriolet, maybe one of the first specimens.
