Mercedes E 63 AMG best sedan for Autobild

By Alison

Mercedes E63 AMG: le foto in alta risoluzione

More “best cars for 2009″ news comes with Autobild readers (unsurprisingly?) voting the Mercedes E63 AMG the best sports sedan of the year. Second in the list was the Audi RS6, 11 percentage points behind the Mercedes. If you like the E63 AMG, you’d best get your cheque book out because it costs somewhere around the 111,500 euros mark. The E63 AMG station wagon, which will be on the market from February next year, will have a slightly higher cost again.

Mercedes E63 AMG station wagon video

By Alison

A station wagon that rumbles away with a 6.2-litre V8 engine may not be your cup of tea, but it certainly explains the 115,000 euro price tag for the Mercedes E63 AMG station wagon. I’m not into station wagons, but this is probably one of the sexier options on the market, and we think the performance will probably be enough to rid it of its staid family status. Hitting 100 km/hr in 4.6 seconds certainly brings a new perspective to picking the kids up from school. Check out the video above.

Live pics: Mercedes stand at the Frankfurt motor show

Francoforte 2009: lo stand Mercedes, seconda parte

The Mercedes “stand” at the Frankfurt Motor Show features everything from the E-Class Station Wagon to the new versions of the GLK, the E63 AMG Station Wagon and, of course, the SLS AMG Gullwing (though it can hardly be considered to be just “part of” the stand).

In fact, Mercedes has given it everything it’s got and no expense has been spared on its home turf. Actually an entire hall on three separate floors is required to house all the Mercedes models and news for this show.

Not to mention the new eco-friendly models on display, including the SLS AMG eDrive Concept the Vision S 500 Plug-In Hybrid, the B-Class F-Cell, and the BlueZero E-Cell Plus. As we prepare the news on the various models, take a look at the gallery below for all the Mercedes live pics from Frankfurt.

Mercedes E 63 AMG Station Wagon: ecco il suo aspetto definitivo

Here’s a rendering of the Mercedes E 63 AMG Station Wagon, giving us an idea of what the final product might look like. The guys at Motorendering have designed this image of the sports model station wagon.

The E 63 Station is going to be more than just your average family wagon, though the engine choice won’t be anything over-the-top. It will be equipped with a 6.2-litre V8 AMG at 525 hp and 630 Nm, which is more than enough to get the kids to school and enjoy the drive while you’re at it.

The new Speedshift MCT transmission will be used, featuring seven speeds and steering wheel paddle. The wet multidisc clutch present on the SL63 will be included, with the four modes: Controlled Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual. Throttle-blipping and AMG Drive Unit will be part of the package.
