The new Delta 1.8 litre DI Turbojet with its 200hp has had all the attention at the Geneva Lancia stand, stealing the show from its sister vehicles. Other news is limited, apart from the new EcoChic LPG range soon to be seen on the Ypsilon and Musa.
The Delta’s new engine can be found on the Executive and Hardblack versions, although the latter will not go into production, having been developed in partnership with the new ‘Angels and Demons’ film (in which the Musa and Ypsilon will also appear). The 1.8 litre turbocompressor has 320Nm and produces a top speed of 230 km/hr, reaching 100 km/hr in 7.4 seconds. It has a six speed manual transmission with steering wheel paddles.
The Ypsilon Versus, on the other hand, has been developed in collaboration with Versace and will be produced in a limited series of 1000 units, with 1.2 and 1.4 litre petrol engines. An extra motor option available is the 1.3 litre Multijet at 75 or 90hp. The EcoChic versions will have an LPG, 1.4 litre motor with 77hp, which is expected to be successful in a market looking for alternative fuels and ecologically-friendly vehicles.
Lancia will be present at the Geneva motor show with some novelties dedicated to its Delta, Musa and Ypsilon models. The luxury fashion stand will debut the Delta with a new 1.8 DI Turbojet petrol engine at 200hp, with 320Nm and six speed automatic transmission. It is capable of reaching 230 km/hr, hitting 100 km/hr in 7.4 seconds.
Another impressive feature of this new engine, is its consumption at 7.8 litres per 100km, and 185 g/km of CO2 emissions. Consumption drops to 5.9 l/100km when outside of city streets, and on highway driving. The transmission features steering wheel paddles with winter and sport functions.
The special edition Delta Executive will be on display with bronze and black paint work, diamond-featured alloy wheels, beige leather interiors, electronic suspension and magic parking system. It also has many acronyms to boot, including the LTF (Linearization Torque Feedback), the TTC (Torque Transfer Control) and the DST (Drive Steering Torque).

This is one very sophisticated looking stand at the Paris show, giving us a hint as to the kind of style that Lancia will be taking over the ocean as part of Fiat Group’s brand overhaul. The idea is of a nostalgic and romantic trip down memory lane, with some modernity seen in the languid form of the Delta. I have recently spotted the Delta more than once around the streets of Italy, and I can say that it’s a really lovely looking motor car.
The only real novetly at the Lancia stand was the Ypsilon Versus, and so our colleagues from Autoblog.it spent more time checking out the girls than the new vehicles. Is Lancia well placed to improve its fortune…?
