The Mercedes S-Class Coupe is once again the subject of spy photos. Having restyled the Mercedes CL, the makers will rename the luxury coupe, fitting it to the new guidelines for naming its models: less distinction and more identity among the different types of bodies in the same category.
Like what happened during the handover between the CLK and the E-Class Coupe, we’ll be watching a similar occurrence in the higher class. The new S-Class Coupe will be presented in 2010 and will be differentiated from the CL by a series of small aesthetic updates that go hand in hand with the very recent facelift the car has had.
The new daytime LED headlights, the newly-designed fenders, the slightly more pronounced grill, the new rear-view mirrors with turn signal lights, and the squared tail pipes call to mind the other very similar vehicles of the S-Class. But it is the anterior headlights, with their new profile, that give this elegant coupe a new look.

Will Mercedes-Benz really drop the name CLK? This is what it seems, according to Autoblog.nl, which has revealed these pictures of the future C-Class based coupe, a car that is supposed to be named E-Class Coupe. Expected to be seen at the Geneva Motor Show, in March, the car will have plenty to reveal to Mercedes-Benz fans, but not its appearance, fully presented by these leaked images. Enjoy!
This car to be presented at the Paris show, gives an idea of what the final model will be like, at least in the nose, while the body shows some original sloping lines, faithful to its debut at the motor show. These are the first official images of the Fascination concept car which is the preview to the third generation CLK.
Similarities to the E Class, also in launch, are emerging as we see determined angles and nerve lines, with a shooting brake attractiveness. This car could mark a new design era for Mercedes.
Dominating the Mercedes-Benz stand at the Paris show will be two world premieres, both very different from each other. The first is the the original Fascination concept, which under its deceptive mantel, hides a shooting brake dynamism that could be in the style of the E Class, CLK and perhaps even a CLK shooting brake. The second is the C250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, that without any stylistic showing off, is all about first class technical concepts.
Characterising this new C Class version is the next generation four cylinder diesel, the CDI 2.1 litre. The C250 will be the highest performance vehicle of these proposed at the show.
The numbers really show the modernity of this project: 2.1 litres, 204hp, 500Nm (record for the two-litre category), along with fuel consumption at 5.2 l/100km, and with emissions at 130 g/km. The engine is Euro 6-ready, and the car includes other features such as refined aerodynamics and intelligent steering.
