Citroen has announced that it will not put its GT supercar into production. The car was originally presented as the GTbyCitroen Concept at the 2008 Paris Motor Show to much acclaim. Despite the anticipation generated, Citroen has instead decided to concentrate on its current line-up.
While the Citroen GT was supposed to have been built and sold at a price of more than one million euros, it seems the company has decided against this kind of investment in splashing out in the supercar segment. The GT actually went on show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, but that will probably be its last outing before it enters the Citroen museum.

The Citroen DS3 Racing will appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed along with a couple of Citroen concept models being taken across to the event. The Citroen GT Concept and the Citroen Survolt Concept will also be on show, with the latter being an electric coupé prototype which debuted at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March.
The trio marks Citroen’s sports qualifications on display, although the GT model is not new to the event. In fact, the Citroen GT is an old acquaintance at Goodweed at its return to the Supercar Paddock and the hillclimb should please fans. The DS3 Racing on the other hand, will benefit from more exposure before sales start at the end of this year.
Citroen’s GT Concept will be on display at Italy’s famous Carnival of Venice this week. The international presentation of the GT Concept takes place from today, as part of its world tour after first being shown in London. The innovative Citroen supercar will be placed on a floating platform in the middle of the Grand Canal. It will navigate up and down the canal before stopping at the Palazzina Grassi - a new, exclusive hotel designed by Philippe Starck.
