Citroën C4 Aircross: more images and info released

By Adrian

Citroën lancia in aprile la nuova C4 Aircross

Citroën has released more pictures and info of the new C4 Aircross, which will be unveiled at the next Geneva Motor Show. In Europe the new crossover from the French carmaker will come with an engine line-up composed by two diesel and one petrol units: a 1.6-litre HDi engine delivering 115 hp and 270 Nm of peak torque, a 1.8-litre HDi delivering 150 hp and 300 Nm and a 1.6 petrol producing 115 hp and 152 Nm. Outside Europe, a 150 hp 2.0-litre petrol engine will also join the fold. The gasoline powertrains will make use of a 5-speed manual gearbox whereas the diesel ones will come with a standard 6-speed manual transmission.

An all-wheel drive option with three transmission modes will be made available for diesel models only: there is the 2WD mode for optimal fuel consumption, the 4WD mode which automatically distributes the torque between the front and rear axles, and the ‘lock mode’, which increases the torque transmitted to the rear wheels for more grip under severe conditions.

The Citroën C4 Aircross uses 18″ rims and a number of safety and aid systems such as hands-free access and starter, to the GPS navigation system with its touch-sensitive screen, rearview camera, transmission mode selector, USB port and Bluetooth connection for portable audio players, just to name a few. The model is expected to hit the market in the first half of the current year, but Citroen is yet to reveal its price.

Citroen C4 sedan: spy shots

By Adrian

Citroen C4 sedan: spy shots

This lot of spy shots comes once again from cold Northern Scandinavia, and the mule wearing that heavy cammo is the new Citroen C4 Sedan, a three-box version of the popular French family car. The current C4 Sedan is sold mostly in China, but with other small sedans popping up, from different manufactures (we had some Opel Astra Sedan spy photos just yesterday) it is possible that this car will find its way in several European markets.

Apparently, in countries like Italy and Spain and in Eastern Europe, the smaller sedan segment is experiencing a certain growth, and some European manufacturer might want to exploit the moment. As for the engine range, we expect the power to come from the well-known units that are already fitted in the other C4 models.

Citroen C4 Aircross: first official pictures released

By Adrian

Citroen C4 Aircross

Citroen has released C4 Aircross‘ first images, which were anticipated on the internet right before its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. In the same fashion as the recently unveiled Peugeot 4008, the Aircross as well derives from Mitsubishi ASX, with just slightly different aesthetics providing this Citroen model with its own identity. The front end looks less elaborated than 4008’s and features the same vertical day time LED lights we have already seen on the DS3, while rear lights actually have a quite different and original shape.

The C4 Aircross is expected to make its market debut in spring 2012 and its range of engines will feature the 112hp 1.6 HDI diesel supplied by the PSA group as well as a 150hp 1.8 liter diesel supplied by Mitsubishi, with manual or automatic transmission and electronically controlled four-wheel drive. Unlike Peugeot 4008, FWD versions of the C4 Aircross might be made available in Europe, although no official confirmation on this matter have been released so far.

Citroen C4 Aircross teaser

By Alison

Citroen_C4_Aircross

And teaser it very much is! This first image of the Citroen C4 Aircross doesn’t show us much at all but the model is set to be revealed probably some time tomorrow. No official information is available but the popular view at the moment seems to be that the Aircross is a kind of all terrain model of the C4, carrying the same name as the C3 Aircross which sells in South America.

The model could also be a kind of Citroen compact SUV developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi and based on the ASX. If this latter possibility proves true, then we’ll most likely get a similar compact SUV under the Peugeot badge as well, in line with the Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crossover - both based on the Mitsubishi Outlander.

We see the compact SUV as a more likely option than a soft offroader, C4 hatchback. And in a segment where the Nissan Qashqai reigns supreme, a little competition from the European brands with some Asian know-how wouldn’t be a bad thing. More to come soon.

New Citroen C4 Picasso in 2012

By Alison

Citroën C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso restyling

Next year will probably see the new Citroen C4 Picasso revealed, most likely at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, and which should be market ready by the end of the year. The model won’t be any bigger than the current Picasso at 4.5 metres long, but it will be based on the new Citroen C4, and will have a longer wheelbase to create more interior space.

The reports from Autobild refer to the Picasso model with no information on the larger, seven-seat Grand Picasso. It saw a restyling in 2010 but could follow after the C4 Picasso gets its debut. The new style is apparently inspired by the DS range with some extra sports style and a rear look that’s closer to the DS5 and not a classic MPV.

The new Picasso engine range will be the same as that of the standard C4 and will have the new 1.6-litre petrol engines developed by the PSA group and BMW, and a two-litre diesel, along with e-HDI models with start&stop.

Citroen DS3 WRC, DS4, C4 and Lacoste live at the 2010 Paris Motor Show

By Alison

Live in Paris Citroen C4, DS4, DS3 WRC and Lacoste Concept

We thought we’d get patriotic on behalf of the French and check out the the Citroen stand at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The new Citroen C4 and Citroen DS4 are on display, as is the remarkable DS3 WRC model - it’s a real head-turner just for its paint job if nothing else. The five-door C4 is an elegant model, not particularly riské but then if you want something more eye-catching, Citroen is betting that you’ll go with the DS4. It’s got good looks even if interior comfort is perhaps not the best.

The Citroen C4 Picasso gets a restyling as well as the C5 with new headlights with LED technology. The Citroen Lacoste concept car is also on display as Citroen’s take on the partnership-with-a-stylist theme. The Lacoste looks like it could be a summer successor to the Mehari model, created strictly for free-time fun.

New Citroen C4 pics

Citroen C4

More pics of the Citroen C4 show off its sloping lines and sports look better than what we’ve seen so far, although we’ll be getting a closer (more polished) look at this at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The new generation is larger than the previous and will be available from launch date with a 1.6-litre THP with 95 or 155 hp. There will also be a turbo THP with 155 hp and a 1.6-litre HDI diesel with 90 hp.

The new C4 will also include the more ecological diesel model, the 1.6 e-HDi with 110 hp, which comes equipped with a new Start&Stop system and a six-speed transmission. The Citroen C4 should also have plenty of small luxury touches with chrome tints, alloy wheels (measuring 16 or 18 inches) and interior accessories such as wi-fi and seven-inch screen. The eTouch 24-hour emergency assistance button is also available.

Citroën C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso restyling

The Citroen C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso models have been officially revealed. Likely to go on display at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the MPV Citroens have been updated to take on more of the recent design style and new logo of the company. The logo has been retouched to give it a softer look, and both Picasso models get LED day lights.

On the technical front, Citroen’s impressive e-HDi engines with start&stop technology are now available with the 1.6 HDi engine with 110 hp. This drops fuel consumption to an average of just 4.8 l/100 km and emissions measure 125 g/km. The C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso join the updated range with the new Citroen C4 and recently announced DS4 models.

Citroen DS4 pics and details

Citroen DS4

The new Citroen DS4 was launched yesterday and it’s another hot model wearing the DS badge for the French company. We will be seeing the DS4 live at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, where it will appear alongside the new Citroen C4 model. The DS model is smaller and chunkier than the standard hatch it’s based on and was originally developed off the back of the High Rider Concept. That, and with a higher wheel setting, mean the DS4 just borders on a crossover model.

While not immediately obvious from the DS4 pics, the car is actually a 2+2, five-door model with hidden door handles in the rear window frame. It’s the second car in the DS line-up, the first being the DS3, and we’ll be interested to see how far beyond the hatchback set-up Citroen plans to take its new range.

The DS4 measures 4.27 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and 1.53 metres high, the only measurement actually larger than the C4. We’re not yet convinced that Citroen has got the hatchback, coupé and SUV combination quite right yet, so we’re reserving our judgement until we see this live in Paris. See after the jump for more details.

Citroen C4 Picasso restyling

Here are pics of the new Citroen C4 Picasso restyling which will be presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show along with the new standard version Citroen C4. The slight restyling has new LED day driving lights, clear indicator panels at the front and a new logo on the rear boot door. Some updates to interior finishes have also been undertaken, while the engine range will remain the same as the current model.

Citroen C4 new pics

Here are more official pics of the new Citroen C4 which will have its official presentation at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in October. It will be a busy show for the French brands on their home turf and the C4 should be an important hatchback model for Citroen. The new generation is a larger model, increasing by five centimetres in length to 4.33 metres. It’s also slightly wider and higher and the boot space now gets to 408 litres.

Six engine options are available at the time of launch. The petrol range includes a 1.4-litre (95 hp), 1.6-litre (120 hp) and a 1.4 THP with 156 hp. The diesel range includes a 1.6 HDi with 90 or 110 hp (also available in the ecological e-HDi), and the 2.0 HDi with 150 hp. The aggressive and sizeable hatch will be a nice complement to the smaller C3, slotting in between it and the C5 in the Citroen range.
