Citroen is about to launch a new special edition of the C3 Picasso for the UK market called Code, which will replace the Blackcherry special edition. The car is based on the most successful model of the range, the HDi 90 manual VTR+ version, therefore it will have the same 90 hp 1.6-litre diesel engine under the bonnet, a unit that boasts an average fuel consumption of 4.6 lt/100km and CO2 emissions of just 120 g/km.
The Citroen C3 Picasso Code special edition will come with air conditioning, curtain airbags, cruise control, Bluetooth and USB connectivity as standard equipment whereas 17 ” alloy wheels, chrome lower bumper inserts, black-chrome door handles, black painted bumpers and longitudinal roof bars will be available as optional extras. There will be four body colour options to choose from: Polar White, Cherry Red, Belle Ile Blue and Thorium Grey.

This funny car commercial uses a person substituting the sound effects his old car doesn’t have, to reveal what you can get with the Citroen C3. “Fancy a car loaded with specs?” is the closing slogan to highlight the parking assistant, power windows and car alarm you can get with the C3. Not a bad effort, and one we’ll remember so we guess it works.
This Citroen C3 special edition takes a leaf from the Citroen DS3 style book and will be presented at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show as the “C3 Red Block Edition”. It ’s described as a rebellious version of the standard C3 and has been presented on Facebook rather than through more traditional channels. The model has lowered suspension, 17-inch wheels and two-tone red and opaque Thorium tint. The interior also gets a new look dashboard called “Bulldog”, with a 3D finish. There is no news about how many of these will be produced or at what price and we can also expect something different to the standard C3 under the bonnet.
I’ll admit I was a little disappointed at some of the results from the 2011 European Car of the Year Award. Perhaps it’s because most electric cars don’t really excite the socks off me (the Nissan Leaf won this year and deservedly so by the sounds of it), or that we’re all gunning for the Alfa Giulietta to do well and get back some of that old Alfa glory, and perhaps also because I have a secret soft spot for the Citroen DS3. So here is Top Gear to remedy that for me, as the 2010 Top Gear Car of the Year Award goes to the hot little Citroen hatch.
We’ve heard that the DS3 is not exactly likely to blow your mind in terms of performance, but is rather, more akin to a tarted up version of the C3. In that case - what a tart! The Top Gear magazine says:
“The DS3 has pulled off that heady mix of ability, excitement and affordability that’s impossible to ignore. It walks so many fine lines so delicately and so comprehensively that it’s hard to find a chink in the armour. The Top Gear Car of the Year is a small, thoughtful, affordable, stylish, fun little hatchback. It’s the people’s champion.”
I’d consider buying one if that was the kind of car I needed. An acquaintance of mine recently went for a sky blue Citroen C3 model and I asked if they hadn’t considered the DS3 as so much cooler, more appealing and more entertaining. The answer: “It’s only got three doors.” Well, whatever….

The new Citroen C3 is gearing up for its assault on the market, and tomorrow an event will take place at no less of a location than the Eiffel Tower. This is a curious video, very quirky and….French? Below we give you a few more pics of the new C3 hatch, set to make its mark on the European sector.
Citroen has released the pricing of the new C3 on the French market, with prices starting at 12,950 euros, topping off at 21,100 euros. This makes it quite economical, depending on your choice, and it can already be ordered by customers in France. Kits available are Attraction, Confort and Exclusive.
Seven engine options are available for the Citroen C3, with four petrol units among them. The entry level engines are the 1.1-litre with 60 hp and the 1.4-litre with 75 hp, moving up the range to the 1.4 VTi with 95 hp and the 1.6 VTi with 120 hp. Diesel options comprise the 1.4 HDi with 70 hp, the 1.6 HDi with 90 hp and the 1.6 HDi FAP with 110 hp. The 1.6 VTi Exclusive can be ordered with traditional automatic transmission.
The pricing for the rest of Europe shouldn’t vary much from that of France. After the jump is the full range of prices for each model option.

The Peugeot 1007 is out of production after disappointing sales has made it a commercial failure in recent years. Peugeot sold just 10,400 units in the last year, producing in total just 120,000 units in five years of production. That figure is what Peugeot had oringally hoped to sell in just one year.
According to reports, the failure of the 1007 can be attributed to its high price point, given that the car was originally intended as a city people mover. The space made on the Peugeot production line will now be dedicated to manufacturing the Citroen DS3 and Citroen C3, alongside the Peugeot 207.

Citroen has released the first images of its new C3 that will be on the market from November. The model takes on the overall size of the previous C3, updating it to match the latest styles of more recent models.
The Zenith windshield, for example, is similar to that seen on the C4 Picasso and gives greater light to the interior of the vehicle. The new Citroen C3 is 3.94 metres long, 1.71 metres wide and has a 300-litre boot.
The internal style has experienced an overhaul with a next generation multimedia system including RD4 mp3 audio, Connecting Box (USB port, iPod compatibility and Bluetooth kit) and MyWay navigation system. The dash design is that seen on the Concept DS Inside.
The latest spy pictures by now date back to November 2008, but the developments of the next generation Citroen C3, awaiting the exclusive DS3, haven’t stopped. Actually the next C3 will recapture some stylistic aspects from this latest model, keeping the “egg” shape, but making it more sleek and slender, as we can see in this successful graphic reconstruction based on the most recent prototypes that have been caught sight of.
Citroen will maintain, however, certain differences between the C3 and the DS3: the former will continue to have the 5-door design while the latter, with only 3 doors, will be the compact sports vehicle of the French series, with an exclusive interior design and high-performance engines. The debut of the new C3 is expected for the end of 2009, with marketing beginning in 2010, and therefore it is logically anticipated at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
