This first episode in a series of Aston Martin Rapide videos seems to have the purpose of introducing us to a kind of car movie/commercial in which the Rapide takes part in what looks like a secret agent mission. We don’t get what it’s all about and while we’ll always love the Rapide, it’s just as well it’s as good as it is because this video could be a little damaging, otherwise. Surely they could have come up with something different for the slogan “Time is precious. Share it wisely in the new four door Rapide.”

We’re not particularly surprised by the attempt at a philosophical ending to the Audi A1 movie “The Next Big Thing”. Basically the episodes are a string of events cobbled together with an ending that tries to explain the apparent randomness of the previous instalments. It’s a bit like the Michael Douglas film The Game but without a story line.

Kudos to Audi, though, for putting together a trendy marketing theme showing that the Audi A1 is the next generation’s flair. We would have liked to see an actual full online betting campaign surrounding the A1 but that’s probably illegal, or at least not in line with company values. At least Timberlake gets more tongue in cheek as he goes along - we could kick off with another six…

In the fifth episode of the Audi A1 movie, John and Toni finally reach their destination with more questions unanswered. We are getting towards to the end of the epsidoes, though, and all will be revealed in ‘The next big thing’ episode 6. What we like best about this movie? When Timberlake hits the guy with the glasses.

Here’s the fourth episode of the Audi A1 Next Big Thing movie featuring Justin Timberlake and this is more of what we like to see - some serious A1 driving action. The guy in the rabbit jacket is gone, thank heavens and we can enjoy a car park drive off in our favourite A1 colour - red. Enjoy.

The next instalment of the Audi A1 ‘Next Big Thing’ episode sees Justin Timberlake and Damia Ramirez in a kind of wrestling match and then this guy with a bunny on the back of his jacket turns up and then they try to take the keys to the A1 and Timberlake gets all tough and…. In what is not a particularly exciting action movie whose point is lost on us, it’s just as well the Audi A1 is still looking good. According to Audi, the first sales are well above initial expectations signalling another possible success for the company, or just the effect of having something new. The best line so far in these (bordering on tedious) episodes is “That’s my ride”.

Here’s the second episode of “The next big thing” featuring Justin Timberlake and the Audi A1. This time we get more driving footage of the Audi A1 and a confusing attempt at creating a kind of action spy movie where Timberlake finds himself inadvertently saving Damia Ramirez.

We can only assume that a third episode will appear and initial production and sales figures would indicate that the expensive marketing campaign is worth it. Audi has just started production in its Brussels facilities with the target of making 50,000 vehicles this year, increasing to 80,000 next year. Of customers already buying the A1, 90 percent are new to the Audi brand, proving that the compact car appeals to a segment in which Audi was previously absent.
