Brabus tunes up Mercedes M-Class

By Adrian

Brabus Mercedes Classe M e SLS AMG Roadster

Renowned German tuner Brabus unveils at the Essien Motor Show a new tuning package dedicated to Mercedes M-Class. Aesthetically, the model receives a new front splitter, bigger side skirts, and a re-designed rear bumper with integrated diffuser and mufflers. Ride height can be lowered by 30 mm on the models equipped with the conventional steel suspension, whereas those equipped with Airmatic air suspension can go down by a further 10 mm. Brabus also offers its own line of alloys for the tuning ranging from 18″ to 22″, while a rear spoiler for the hatch will become available in the near future.

The engine has been enhanced with Brabus ECO PowerXtra D6S kit, which boosts the 258 hp/620Nm (457 lb/ft) output of the standard 3.0-litre diesel unit to 306 hp at 3,600 rpm and 690 Nm (509 lb/ft) of peak torque, available between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. The move provides the car with a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of just 6.0 seconds, exactly 1.4 seconds less than the standard model, while top speed increases to 229 km/h (142 mph).

Inside the most distinctive features of the Mercedes M-Class by Brabus include leather and Alcantara finishing, wood and carbon-fiber trim, bi-color stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit Brabus logo and matt-anodized aluminum pedals, although the tuner offers plenty of options for its cabin’s customization.

Brabus unveils the 800 Coupe at the 2011 Dubai Motor Show

By Adrian

Brabus 800 Coupé

Renowned German tuner Brabus is at the 2011 Dubai Motor Show to unveil its own rendition of Mercedes CL 600, re-named 800 Coupe. The standard model is powered by a 5.5-litres V12 producing 517 hp and 830 Nm of peak torque, with a 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint time of 4,6 seconds and 250km/h (155 mph) top speed, but the good people at Brabus just weren’t happy enough with that.

First off they upsized the engine displacement - going from 5.5 to 6.3 litres - and then replaced exhaust, braking and twin-turbo systems with more performing parts created by Brabus itself. These modifications are enough to provide the car with an output of 800 hp and an impressive 1,420 Nm of torque, although the latter gets electronically limited to 1,100 Nm. Quite obviously, performance figures for this model are astonishing: o-100 km/h in 3,9 seconds, 0-200 km/h (0-120 mph) in 10,3 seconds and 350 km/h top speed (217 mph).

This enormous power gets to the rear wheels through a reinforced 5-speed automatic gearbox, while aerodynamics have been improved with new front and rear spoilers. The 800 Coupe can come with 18″ to 22″ Brabus Monoblock alloy wheels and is equipped with a lowering module for the ABC suspension which lowers the car’s ride height by 25mm at the touch of a button. The interior has been upgraded to complement the diamond-white metallic paintjob and uses a lot of white leather and black Alcantara as well as some carbon-fiber inserts.

Brabus launches two new performance kits for Mercedes CL 500 and S 500

By Adrian

Mercedes CL 500 e S 500 by Brabus

High-performance aftermarket company Brabus introduces the latest two tuning packages for Mercedes CL 500 and S 500 4 MATIC. Both all-wheel drive models come with the same 4.7-litre 8-cylinder twin turbo engine (435 hp and 700 Nm of torque) that the German tuner can push to new highs with its most recent offering: 2 new Brabus PowerXtra CGI performance kits named B50–490 and B50–520.

Both packages feature a new sporty exhaust system made by Brabus and ride-height lowered by 25 mm. The B50-490 kit consists of a plug-and-play PowerXtra module integrated into the engine electronics that recalibrates the mapping for ignition, injection and electronic boost pressure control, boasting the engine power up to 490 hp and 780 Nm. The B50–520 package features an additional intercooler providing these cars with 520 hp and 820 Nm of peak torque, a conversion that would make them reach 300km/h of top speed (as the PowerXtra module eliminates the standard self-imposed 250km/h speed limit).

Aesthetic and aerodynamic upgrades include different bumpers, new air intakes and side skirts. As for the interiors, Brabus offers many different options from which to choose. Several design options are also available for the alloys, whose diameter may vary from 18″ to 22″.

Smart ForTwo Cabrio Brabus La Bleue

By Alison

Smart ForTwo Cabrio Brabus La Bleue

You see a few Smart ForTwo models in Europe when one steals your spot for the shopping dash (or recently when I saw a guy actually managed to fish-tail his a couple of times), but here is a ’special’ effort from Mercedes-Benz Italy - the Smart ForTwo Cabrio Brabus La Bleue. Only 60 of these models will be produced, all of them in Italy, and it’s designed to be a tarted-up version of the standard for whoever wanted to pimp their Smart.

The ForTwo Brabus La Bleue gets a new midnight blue tint, day driving lights and Brabus Monoblock VII six-spoke wheels measuring 16 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. The interior features a soft beige finish with seats and doors in Nappa leather, Brabus logos in blue stitching and the same blue around the instrument panel.

This Smart ForTwo is equipped with the same 102-hp engine as other Brabus models, getting to 100 km/hr in 8.9 seconds and reaching the top speed of 155 km/hr. Fuel consumption is 5.2 l/100 km and CO2 emissions are 119 g/km. Standard equipment includes touch-screen multimedia display, CD player, iPod interface, USB port and Bluetooth.

Brabus SLS AMG new-look before engine tuning arrives

By Alison

Brabus Mercedes SLS AMG

Here’s a look at the SLS AMG Brabus tuning effort, which affects the look of the car while leaving the already impressive V8 engine untouched. The Brabus SLS AMG tuning program is centred around a carbonfibre reworking of the body with new front and rear spoilers, air inlets and vents and a rear diffuser.

The supercar gets new, stylish ‘Monoblock F Platinum Edition’ alloy wheels measuring 20 inches at the front (on 275/30 tyres) and 21 inches at the rear (with 295/25 tyres). Customers can choose from Pirelli or Yokohama while the new wheels show a double spoke pattern. On the technical front Brabus has included a lighter exhaust system, taking 12 kg off the original weight (a saving of 40 percent) and modified suspension which allows for either a lowered or raised height off the ground.

The interior includes illuminated stainless-steel scuff features along the doors, a sports steering wheel, Alcantara seats and a carbonfibre or wood trim. Brabus says its engine-tuning program for the SLS AMG is on its way for those interested in getting even more power out of the 6.2-litre, 570 hp engine.

Brabus Vanish one-off: Mercedes SL 65 black series

By Alison

Brabus Vanish Mercedes SL 65 AMG Black Series one-off

The Mercedes SL 65 AMG Black Series gets the Brabus treatment, becoming the one-off Brabus Vanish. The one-off SL 65 AMG may not be your cup of tea, but the exclusivity of the car can hardly be denied. It has the same twin turbo 6.0 V12 to which Brabus has added two larger turbines, for a total of 800 hp. The transmission system has been totally revised and a new, larger braking system has been added.

With its 800 hp the Brabus Vanish should also be super-fast due to its carbon fibre bonnet. The customer who ordered this model originally purchased it in pearl white and the current matte black finish is a kind of surface film added. On the inside we see red stitching and the Brabus and Vanish logos, which are also included on the brake calipers.

SLS AMG tuning: Brabus and MEC Design

By Alison

Brabus SLS AMG tuning

Here’s a look at the Brabus SLS AMG tuning, which is a lot more respectful towards the classic Gullwing than the MEC Design proposal seen in the gallery below. In terms of style features, Brabus has lowered the vehicle and added new wheels with enormous tyres.

The mechanics will get a tweak, and while Brabus most likely won’t use its own 6.3-litre V12 twin turbo with 800 hp, we could see a power increase around the 700 hp-mark all the same. We should see this at the Essen motor show where we can’t wait for more news!

The MEC Design tuning renderings on the other hand, are bordering on sacriligeous. Maybe the guys were trying for something over the top for they’re digital reconstruction but we hope nothing like this ever actually makes it onto the SLS AMG.

MEC has also included large, 22-inch wheels, an enormous front grille and equally enormous rear diffusor with spoiler and redesigned exhaust outlets. Apparently the CEO of MEC has said they’ve had a lot of positive feedback and they can’t wait to get their hands on a Gullwing to create their project. The Brabus picture is from Autobild, information on the MEC Design from Autoblog and WorldCarFans.

Fifth Gear drives the Unimog Black Edition by Brabus

By roland

Not everyone has heard of the creature that is the Unimog, a mega-truck produced by Mercedes-Benz and designed for the more ‘hardcore’ user. Well, we suggest they take a look at Fifth Gear’s test-drive, with Tom Ford (Wookie to his friends) who attempts to go along a specially designed course
to discover the limits of the German beast.

The Unimog has been recently ordered by the British Special Forces and the celebrated TV show could not wait to get their hands on this £90,000 super-toy. However, this was not without the supervision of a military driving instructor…

A bit of spec info on the Unimog: The 296bhp Straight 6 engine has an amazing 1120 Nm of Torque. The unit’s 11.9 tons can be pushed to around 55mph (100km/h) on road. Two specifications prove to be the most impressive: the exciting prospect of the “working gears” switch on the dashboard, which
allow the driver to select the range of gears desired depending on the terrain; and the ability to reduce the pressure of the tyres to allow up to 30% more traction on slippery surfaces.

The best part arrives in the final moments of the video when you have the opportunity to see one of the most insane things on four wheels: the Unimog Black Edition, a ‘sport’ version developed by Brabus that puts the seemingly impossible in your hands. Do you perchance have an annoying neighbour? Save
up £160,000 and this monster (which amongst other things has a leather and carbon fibre interior) will finally be at your disposal.
