The BMW Z4 gets tuned by 3D Design and in these pics and video we can see the style upgrades to the car. Playing the sports aggression card, 3D gives the Z4 a new front splitter, side skirts and a rear extractor made from carbonfibre. A new aerodynamic feature is on the rear boot area, too. The Z4 by 3D also has a new range of four exhausts and 19-inch wheels. The interior only gets minimal upgrades with an aluminium pedal and three dials introduced in front of the gearstick. See the video after the jump.
The new BMW Z4 sDrive35is video shows the new Z4 which, while it’s unlikely to have an M-Sport version, is still a higher performance vehicle than previously with plenty of ‘M’ spirit. The sDrive35is has 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, or 500 when using the Overboost function. These impressive performance figures are matched by environmental features with the Efficient Dynamics function contributing to fuel consumption of just nine litres for 100 km and CO2 emissions of 210 grams.
The video is not bad (though the voice over is bit like an armageddon announcement), and we get a close-up of the BMW Z4 sDrive35is engine and the elegant interior. If you want the details of the modifications made to build this new Z4, check it all out in the video, and see here for the sDrive35is press release.
The new BMW Z4 sDrive35is will debut at the next Detriot auto show as a 2011 model. The new roadster will have a six cylinder, 3.0-litre engine with 335 hp and 451 Nm of torque. The torque can be increased to 501 Nm when using the overboost function. Other features include double clutch transmission, EPS, and M Sport kit.
The M Sport upgrades include aerodynamics and suspension modifications, 18-inch alloy wheels (optional extra includes 19-inch wheels), alluminium trim bars and bumpers and a rear diffuser. Performance figures of the new Z4 roadster are a top speed of 250 km/hr and a 4.7 second time to reach 100 km/hr.
The interior is unsuprisingly elegant and luxurious with leather finishes and sport seats. The Z4 sDrive35is will be available from spring next year. More details are the after the jump in the press release (US) and see the full gallery below for more pics.

This is totally off topic but when I saw this video it made me laugh. In a highly unlikely hole in one, golfer Leif Olson won himself the lovely BMW Z4 Roadster. To find out just how he did it, watch the video.
After presentation to the press in Spain recently, BMW has released this video of the new Z4. The new spider with metal roof was presented in the SDrive35i version, but the video doesn’t leave any space to hear the six cylinder, 306 hp engine.
For an idea of what this car is capable of, have a look at our Z4 test drive post.
The first impressions of the new BMW Z4 are emerging as international press start Z4 test driving sessions. Fans of the brand have been curious for some time to see if the new spider’s driving feel has been jeopardised or not.
After the jump, you’ll find some of the Z4 driving impressions from the press, as the 3.0 litre, twin turbo at 306 hp is tested. The current top-of-the-range engine is the one under examination (the 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged at 302 hp), although the BMW Z4 will also include the 2.5 litre 201 hp, with 250 Nm of torque, and a 3.0 litre, 255 hp engine.

We’ve seen plenty of images of the new BMW Z4, but to really enjoy this BMW (and be particularly jealous) we have to check it out in motion. In the following BMW Z4 videos after the jump, you can see the roadster soul reaching a more mature and refined style.
While this car has a long list of positive aspects, the only fault we can find is the weight; the Z4 weighs 1,480 kg for the S-Drive23i and 1,585 kg for the twin-turbo. The increase compared to the first version is about 150kg, but we think the evolution justifies it. Though maybe we’re being picky - if someone happened to offer me one, I wouldn’t say no.

We’re really hoping this is not what the next generation BMW Z4 is going to look like. We wait in hope for the Los Angeles show to see it live, because this example looks like the original spirit of the German spider has gone walkabout.
This is no longer a conservative two-seater, but a democratic open top, with a rigid roof to satisfy a wider client base. The Z4 was originally designed as a car for pure fun but it looks open to welcoming the dogma from Rudolf Diesel. Here’s crossing fingers.

Considering all the particulars that manage to show themselves from the camouflouge of the new Z4, the final look of the new BMW spider shouldn’t be too different from these two renders published by Left-lane. As we’ve already seen, the style will have some similarities to the series 6, especially in the rear; while the grill will undergo some changes to bring it in line with the new racing style inaugurated on the splendid Concept CS. New front lights should display some eyelash fluttering and are an evolution on what we saw with the series 3.
The element that will probably remain pretty much the same is the sides, maintaining their current sensual lines and curves. The interior should keep the same current minimalist style but with new instrumentation and air flow design. And it’s now almost certain that lucky owners of the new Z4 will be able to choose from two types of roof - the classic fabric roof, or a more rigid folding version.
Autoweek.nl has some spyt shots of the BMW Z4 E89. The new version of the BMW roadster is expected on the market by 2009. The spy-shots suggest a folding metal roof, just like the 3-Series Cabrio.
According to Auto Bild, the next BMW Z4 will be slightly larger than the current model (4,30 meters long), with more space for driver and passenger and a more refined cockpit, since the entry-level open BMWs will be the 1-Series Cabrio and later the BMW Z2.
The next Z4 M might also feature the 4.0-liter V8 engine from the new M3. Such a small and light car with a 420 ps engine promises to be quite a drive…
