The new Audi TT RS Plus has finally arrived. the German carmaker has just released the first official info and a massive photo gallery of the new model, that will be made available in both coupe and roadster configurations. The car is powered by the well-known 2.5-litre 5-cylider TSFI engine with direct injection equipping the ‘regular’ TT RS, but its delivery has been boosted to 360 hp and 465 Nm of peak torque, marking a +20 hp and a +15 Nm over the output of its ‘plus-less” counterpart. This unit, in combination with its S-Tronic ‘dual clutch’ transmission, allows the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in just 4.1 seconds (4.2 seconds for the roadster), with a limited top speed of 280 km/h (173 mph). A 6-speed manual transmission option is also available, but with this gearbox the TT RS Plus loses a little in terms of performance as the 100 km/h mark is reached in 4.3 seconds by the coupe and 4.4 seconds by the roadster.
The model obviously uses an all wheel drive powertrain and boasts an average fuel consumption of 8.5 l/100 km for its coupe variant and 8.6 for the convertible. Thanks to its light bodyshell, 2/3 of which is made of aluminum, the Coupe version with manual gearbox weighs only 1,450 kg, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 4.0 kg/hp (4.2 for the Roadster). The Audi TT RS Plus rolls on exclusive 19″ burnished alloys with contrasting red outline, fitted with 255/35 tyres and coupled to 4-piston calipers on the front axle. “Magnetic Ride” suspension are also available as an optional extra.
Aesthetically, the Audi TT RS Plus distinguishes itself from the “regular” TT RS by its glossy single-frame grill, the wing mirror shells made of CFRP, the matt aluminum outline of its diffuser, the front lip spoiler and its burnished oval-shaped mufflers. By the way, the ’sound’ of the car can be adjusted by acting on the flaps integrated in the exhaust system. In 2012 Audi will launch an even more aggressive and performing version of the TT-RS, called TT-RS Plus. Audi comes up with the ‘Plus’ suffix again - it had already been used for the first two generations of the RS6 - using it to label a sporty model which is not only more powerful, but lighter as well: according to French Automobile Magazine, rear seats will be removed and new exclusive components will be used, allowing the TT-RS Plus to become 60 kg lighter than the standard model (weighing 1,450 kg ). Besides, the 2.5 TFSI engine will receive an extra 40 hp, boosting its power up to 385 hp. The most distinctive aesthetic features will be specifically designed alloy wheels and a bigger fixed rear spoiler. We’ll be back with more details as soon as they will be available.
The Audi TT GT4 Concept racer has been revealed. Audi plans to put this TT ready-to-race model into production for 2012 as it steps-up its presence in the privateer racing market. The car has been previewed in demo laps at the DTM in Shanghai over the weekend and while it will also be available in Europe, Audi is planning on leveraging its new-found profile in China by offering something different than cruising saloons and sports cars.
The Audi TT GT4 is currently equipped with a TFSI engine with 340 hp and the S-Tronic DSG gearbox. It also gets a limited-slip differential, rollcage and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic around the doors, bonnet and rear boot. It sports typical TT RS design features with front and rear spoilers. Audi says it will sell the TT GT4 for about 120,000 euros, which the company says makes it an accessible racer for the private teams and weekend racers of the world.
German magazine Auto Bild has declared that the cabriolet/roadster sports car of the year for 2009 is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560/4 Spyder. The Gallardo was part of a number of sports cars, any one of which we would like to have, that was voted on by Auto Bild readers.
Winning in the cabriolet/roadster tuning section was the Gemballa Mirage GT Special Edition, while the Audi TT-RS and ABT AS5-R were the favourite coupe models voted, the latter representing the tuning category.
This Audi TT RS tuning is produced by MTM German tuning company, and has boosted the TT RS power, accessing more torque at different rpm levels. Three power stages are available at 404 hp with 550 Nm, 408 hp with 550 Nm, and 424 hp with 560 Nm of torque. This last stage means the TT RS achieves 100 km/hr in 4.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 297 km/hr.
These figures are an increase on the standard TT RS performance data of 340 hp, 450 Nm and acceleration to 100 km/hr in 4.6 seconds. MTM used the 2.5-litre, five-cylinder turbo engine, adding a new exhaust system with throttle valves and MTM sport wheels at 19 or 20 inches. Click on the gallery for more pics.

In a nostalgic video, Autocar takes a look at the original Audi Quattro, comparing it with today’s Audi TT RS. It’s an instructional video where we can learn about why the Quattro was revolutionary at the time, and how Audi has lead the way since in four wheel drive road models. Daily, all wheel drive options are something we often take for granted now, but for the historic lesson behind this, watch the video.

It’s got the nasty look of its RS5 cousin, and although no news is yet available on the engine, rumours are becoming more insistent for a turbo with power at around 350 hp. The TT RS, photographed in America without camouflage, is a lot more irreverent than the TTS and is now ready for its debut.
