Here are the videos of the new Audi A5 and S5 restyling where we get to see all the newly designed elements up close, along with some Audi brochure pics of all the models. The new restyling isn’t dramatic, but includes a few updates to modernise the cars with reworked LED lights, front and rear fascias and some technical changes that include start-stop on all engine options. We will soon get a new range of Euro 6 Audi diesels too, which should bring down the fuel consumption and emissions even further. See the extra videos after the jump for more footage.
The 2012 model year Audi A5 and Audi S5 get style updates to bring them up-to-date with the rest of the more recent Audi family with such models as the new A6 and A7. The front and rear fascias both get changes, with the significant change up front being new blade-like LEDs which replace the more classic previous ones. The front grille and bumpers have been modified, as have the air intakes.
The S5 and A5 restyling has also updated the engine range, with all units fitted with turbo charger, direct injection and start/stop technology. Audi claims an average drop of 11 percent in fuel consumption. All the S5 models are now equipped with the three-litre V6 TFSI with 333 hp, leaving behind the 4.2-litre aspirated V8. The V6 S5 gets to 100 km/hr in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km.
The diesel A5 range includes the 2.0 TDI with 177 hp and the three-litre V6 TDI with either 204 or 245 hp. In the future a full Euro6 diesel engine range will be introduced. The Quattro all-wheel drive models have the seven-speed S-Tronic transmission with a new central differential and torque vectoring system. The rear sports diff is available as an option and the chassis gets a new Audi Drive Select system.
Hofele Design has taken the Audi A5, added some R8 looks and come up with this result. The A5 takes on carbon fibre sideblades (which don’t appear on the R8 Spider, but which Hofele wanted to include on the A5 cabrio all the same), rear aerodynamic look from the supercar coupe, side skirts, a lowered body and twin chrome exhaust with four outlets. It might not be your cup of tea, but if you’re wanting to touch up your Audi, this kit is available on the Audi A5 and S5 coupé, and the Audi A5 cabrio and S5 cabrio.

Here are the first official shots of the Audi A5 cabriolet, seen here in the “S” version. From the different angles, it’s possible to see its lateral profile and the opening system of the roof, which are more relevant than the front view, very similar to the coupé
The engine, as anticipated, will not be directly inherited from the A5, and will be the second Audi after the S4, to adopt the 3.0L TFSI in its full power version: 333hp and 440Nm, 0-100 km/hr in 5.6 seconds and 250 km/hr maximum speed. For a good look, check out the gallery below.
