The Audi RS7 hot version of the new A7 is expected to debut in 2012 and rumours say that it could have up to 600 hp. That would make it one of the most powerful models in the hotted up sedan segment, more so even than the BMW M5 which, with its F10 version, could reach 570 hp. It’s interesting to see Audi go all-out for the crown of the highest performance as a lot of other factors come into play these days, including lightweight chassis for fuel consumption and emissions performance.
A twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 would be charged with that power, and the RS7 could be fitted with other technology to handle the 600 hp, including Quattro all-wheel drive, a torque vectoring differential, adaptive suspension and large front air intakes. This is purely a rumour so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the RS7 come in at less than this figure, but at the same time the German brands seem to want to up the ante on each new performance version and Audi could be going for supremacy, no holds barred.
