If it weren’t for the sideblades, you could easily mistake this Audi R8 V10 for a banal V8. But the new Audi R8 V10 is up for some serious competition, and could give the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 and co., a run for its money. The new Audi is seen as the maximum expression of fast sports style from the company.
The engine is a 5.2 litre V10 from the Italian car, but with a little less power and torque at 525hp and 530 Nm. The performance, though, comes off very similar, thanks to a 1,620 kg weight, the Audi R8 V10 reaches 100 km/hr in just 3.9 seconds. Maximum speed is 315 km/hr.
The aesthetic updates are limited to the lateral air intakes, front full LED headlights and 19-inch alloy wheels. After its debut at the Detroit motor show, the R8 V10 will be commercialised in the second quarter of 2009 at a price of about 142,400 euros.
So here she is, the much talked about R8 V10, without camouflage or tape to cover the details. The peculiarity of this spy shot is that the car has been snapped in a dealership. To be precise, the photo was taken at the headquarters of the GMBH in Ingolstadt, where the most exclusive Audis are planned and shown.
The changes compared to the V8 are limited to the single frame grill, lights (we should see LED headlights), the larger air intakes on the side blades and double exhaust (rather than the four pipes as previously seen). The differences are minimal, and we had already checked them out in the video of another prototype.
