The new Audi A4 model will get a complete overhaul in mechanics and technological solutions, according to AutoBild. The new A4 “B9″ model will use the MLB Evo platform and will be up to 120 to 150 kg lighter than the current model. Despite that weight reduction, the new A4 will grow in size and could extend to about 4.7 metres.
The German publication says that a new A4 engine range will include petrol models ranging between 150 and 350 hp, and diesels from 150 to 300hp. The now essential ecological models will also be included with Start&Stop technology and energy regeneration when braking.
Brand new versions will debut on the new Audi A4 line-up, including e-Quattro plug-in hybrid models with a rear electric motor capable of about 30 to 60 km in zero emissions mode. As the name suggests, a new all-wheel drive platform will be developed which should be similar to the Peugeot Hybrid4 system. A naturally gas-powered model could also appear, but currently we’ve got no news as to when we can expect the new A4 to debut - it’s being cited as a 2014 model at this stage.
