Man, is it hot in here! This is the first official pic of the new Aston Martin V12 Zagato roadgoing machine and it is beautiful - just what you’d expect but better of Aston style interpreted by the Italian coachbuilder.
The V12 Zagato model will go into production mid-2012 for a run of 150 units. It will be built basically by hand using aluminium and carbonfibre, and will be equipped with the six-litre V12 with 510 hp. It is a fitting thing to celebrate 50 years of Aston Martin-Zagato collaboration first started with the DB4 GT Zagato.
We’ve seen the V12 Zagato before at the 2012 Concours d’Elegance at Villa d’Este where it was presented, and then on the track at the 24 hours Nurburgring, but the production version at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show should be a highlight next month all the same. Apparently the Frankfurt showcar will actually be one of the Nurburgring vehicles in production guise to show customers what their 400,000-euro vehicle is going to look like.
The modern day take on the Aston Martin-Zagato relationship in the form of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Zagato is far from just a marketing manoeuvre, as we learn in this video from Autocar. The test drive of the Zagato Vantage took place at the Aston Martin test facilities at Gaydon on one of the models that participated in the 24 hours Nurburgring endurance race.
The production models will have some changes made to them and will probably be a lot quieter. That’s a good thing as we wouldn’t want to feel like we were permanently in a race car, but as Jamie Corstorphine says, just poddling around in the V12 Zagato racer makes the most incredibly exhilirating engine noise.
The test drive doesn’t tell us much about what a production Aston V12 Zagato might be like but as the test points out - we’ve been waiting for a fresh-faced Aston for a while now, and with plenty of sports coupé performance, this kind of model is right up Aston’s alley. The video is so worth the watching just to get inside the race car - check it out above.
Aston Martin has confirmed that production of the V12 Zagato will take place as a limited run of about 150 models. Currently the Aston Martin V12 Zagato will be sold for an estimated price of about £330,000, which could equate to 450,000 euros all told. That makes the Villa d’Este concept an expensive number, but the exclusivity of the Zagato car design house and just 150 models probably justifies it.
The V12 Vantage gets a change in the Zagato format, with handmade aluminium body panels, carbonfibre parts and the six-litre V12 up to 510 hp and 570 Nm of torque. The news is not an official confirmation as such, but Aston does say an official press release will be provided in a couple of weeks. After the V12 Zagato 24 hour Nurburgring racing debut, the production model will be a roadgoing version.

The Aston Martin Zagato V12 Vantage that went on display over the weekend at the 2011 Concorso d’Eleganza, won the Villa d’Este Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes, thanks to a public vote from the visitors at the show. The sexy coupé model was perhaps a predictable choice, but we’re not complaining.
The Zagato V12 Vantage was created to celebrate 50 years of Aston Martin-Zagato collaboration which first started with the DB4 GT Zagato. The V12 Vantage by Zagato at Villa d’Este is a racing model which will compete in the 24 hour Nurburgring race. It will be followed by a limited run of a production vehicle. A note on the wheels - the original ones in alloy that we first saw were replaced with blacked-out ones for Concorso, more suitable to the racing look.

Here she is, ladies and gentlemen, the Aston Martin V12 Zagato which will debut over the weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza, Villa d’Este. The coupe has been designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Aston Martin-Zagato collaboration and the first model which was made - the DS4 GT Zagato.
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato will be on show in full racing regalia before it gets a competition debut at the Nurburgring 24 hours on June 25th. It is set to follow in the footsteps of that first Aston Zagato which debuted at the same race with Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori behind the wheel.
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato roadgoing model will be revealed after and it will get a limited production run. The new racer is based on the V12 Vantage and gets a Zagato mix of design and technology. The project was headed by Chris Porritt who is the same guy behind the development of the Aston Martin One-77.

Another year at Villa D’Este and another Zagato model! To celebrate 50 years of the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, a new Aston Martin Zagato special edition will be produced, which will go on show at the 2011 Concorso d’Eleganza, Villa d’Este on May 21st. The teaser image above shows the new model, and according to reports, Aston Martin could consider a production version in the future, even as early as 2012.
The DB4 GT from 1961 was just the first in an Aston Martin-Zagato partnership that also spawned models such as the V8 Vantage Zagato, the DB7 Zagato and the DB-AR1. The new Aston Martin Zagato concept has no name as yet and no real form apart from what we see above, but we can’t wait for Villa d’Este to turn up and turn on the class.
