These pics from Italy show what is believed to be an Alfa Milano test mule on the roads around Milan. The new Milano is still quite heavily camouflaged, but it should be in a final phase of development, given the planned 2010 Geneva debut for the new 149.
The new range of Alfa models is hotly anticipated after the success of the Alfa MiTo. Following it, first up the new Alfa Milano will appear, and then sometime in 2012 we should see the Alfa Giulia, which will also be heading for the US, and a substitute to the Alfa 169, seen in the 169 renderings of yesterday.
These two renders of the new Alfa Romeo 169 show the sedan that will appear in 2011, according to the latest information regarding Alfa’s future release plans. The Alfa 169 should share the chassis of the new generation Chrysler 300C, and will have rear wheel drive - a decision generally prohibited by purist Alfa fans.
The new 169 should prove to be a pillar on which Alfa will base its return to the US market (planned for 2012). It will have to be perfect in every way, and pleasing to the American public. The look takes on a coupe-sedan look, described as “8C-Competizione oriented”, which adopts a similar look to an Audi A5 sportback or even the new Jaguar XJ.
The Alfa MiTo and Milano have also taken on new Alfa styles, and the 166 should also improve on the current Alfa sedan look. These are only renderings though, and the interior is also unknown. Based on what the Milano is likely to have, we could see something more minimalist than the 166 but it will depend on how family-oriented the 169 will be.

After much request from readers to our colleagues at autoblog.it, we publish this rendering from Omniauto of the future Alfa Romeo 169. We’re not all agreed on the design proposed here as we were expecting a coupè-sedan more marked in its agression, with a greater link to the 8C Competizione style.
Creating an heir to the 164 and the 166 will be a heavy task: keeping the Alfa sedan up to German competition won’t be easy. Various strategies and rumours are keeping our hopes afloat for the future of this vehicle, with a drawing proposed of the possible Jaguar platform for the 169 (see after the jump), possible Maserati roots and talk of rear wheel drive. 2011 is a long way off, though.
