This in-house Ferrari battle pits the 599 GTB Fiorano against the F40 in what is described by Ferrari as the “duel for the crown”. It’s three minutes no Ferrari fan wants to miss. The older Ferrari might not be up to the technical challenge, but it has its own charm with that spikey, angular look and a traditional gear shift that purists will love.
The Ferrari F40 has a V8 engine with 478 hp and in the technical stats at the end of the video, Ferrari claims a sprint to 100 km/hr of 4.1 seconds. It’s hard to make a comparison when age is a factor, but the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano obviously comes in less at 3.7 seconds and has 620 hp from its V12. The video shows just how fast both these models can go.
Vorsteiner has created a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano tuning kit inspired by the more extreme 599 GTO and 599 XX models. The Vorsteiner 599-VX gets new carbonfibre components, redesigned front bumpers, larger air intakes and a bonnet design from the 599 XX. That model’s inspiration also features on the rear of the new Vorsteiner Ferrari tuning with a new rear wing and extractor, new side skirts and alloy wheels designed exclusively for this model.
The new 599 GTB Fiorano livery can be matched to either a matte white or black roof. The new exhaust system features a higher twin exhaust created by BBI Autosport. The exhaust, together with a lowered suspension, are the only new technical aspects of this Ferrari 599 GTB tuning.
A new Ferrari-Pininfarina one-off creation will take to the shores of Lake Como at the next Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza event. The Ferrari Super America 45, as it is called, apparently will be based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and has been commissioned by Peter Kalikow, a collector from New York. One of his famous collector’s pieces is another Pininfarina one-off, the Ferrari 612 Kappa.
The Ferrari Super America 45 should have a six-litre V12 on board and be dressed in Pininfarina sheet metal. This isn’t the first “Superamerica” Ferrari as the name has been used on other historic models. Beyond these details, there’s not much else to know right now, but the Concorso opens on May 20th so we’ll be able to check this out in person soon.
The first rumours on the Ferrari 599 GTB replacement are appearing after the 612 Scaglietti and more recently, the Ferrari FF, have marked evolutions both in design and technology for the company. The new 599 GTB will likely be kept under the high performance GT banner.
The first rumours suggest that the 599 GTB heir will have 700 hp and will we find a V12 engine under the bonnet. Utmost priority is being given to performance and we’ll get classic rear-wheel drive. The rumours come from PistonHeads who suggest that the 599 GTB Fiorano replacement will be true to tradition, being a front-engined, 12-cylinder model, currently with no all-wheel drive planned.
That’s good news for anyone worried that the FF would start setting trends for all future Ferraris. The new model will borrow the 6.3-litre V12 FF engine but with a few changes. One significant update we should see is a reduction in weight: unsurprising given modern market requirements for supercars.
According to test driver Raffaele De Simone, ample carbon fibre will be used but not in structural parts. While future uses of Ferrari’s new all-wheel drive technology haven’t been excluded, the 599 replacement should be a pure, driver-oriented car. On the carbon fibre conundrum, De Simone says: “The history of aluminium isn’t finished yet. Structural carbon fibre parts still aren’t economically sustainable for a production of two to three cars a day.”
Reports suggest that Ferrari could reveal five new models from 2011 to 2012 as it replaces older models and starts to roll out both hybrid and performance-oriented vehicles. The first model we’ll apparently be seeing is the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti replacement. Known as the F151 at the moment, it is expected to appear at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March. It will be the first Ferrari hybrid production model and will be equipped with a V12 with 550 hp matched to two 100-hp electric motors. They will reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 35 percent.
The new Ferrari 458 Challenge will also be present at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and it should prove to be an exciting model for purists of the brand. At Frankfurt we’ll be seeing the Ferrari 458 Spider which could debut with a fancy glass roof. In any case, as the name suggests, it’s the open-top version of the standard 458. 2012 could see the heir to the Ferrari Enzo appear with a twinturbo V8.
In acknowledgement of the Chinese market, production of the Enzo could also take place locally. Then in the second half of 2012 the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano replacement will appear. It’s currently codenamed the F152. If all this is to be believed, it will be a busy couple of years for Ferrari. We’re keen to see what they come up with.

Ferrari has officially presented the new Ferrari 599 GTO and even the pics themselves show how performance-oriented it is. Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, the 599 GTO uses the same six-litre V12 engine but with power up to 670 hp at 8,250 rpm (an increase from 620 hp). While we haven’t seen the 599 GTO get to the magic hp number of 700, dry weight is also down to 1,495 kg for a weight-power ratio of 2.23 kg/hp. Acceleration to 100 km/hr is achieved in 3.35 seconds and top speed is more than 335 km/hr.
To achieve these performance figures, the 599 GTO has composite fibre material and the thickness of the glass used has been reduced. The transmission is lighter and the exhaust system was built using a hydroform process. The 599 GTO aerodynamics are based on those of the 599 XX and have been modified to get downforce of 144 kg at 200 km/hr. The front of the car’s width has been reduced and a new splitter added along with air vents in the bonnet to improve the oil radiator cooling. A new diffuser and rear spoiler have also been added.
The V12 engine has 670 hp and 620 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. It complies with Euro 5 norms, which is incredible if you think about the performance. High rev performance has been improved with modifications to the aspiration system and the 599 GTO has an F1, six-speed transmission with shift time of 50 milliseconds. Average fuel consumption measures 17.5 l/100 km and CO2 emissions are 411 g/km.
Felipe Massa defines the Ferrari 599XX as a “splendid” car in this track debut video. The 599 XX first appeared at the 2009 Geneva motor show as a lighter version of the 599 GTB Fiorano. The XX has a massive 690 hp, but according to Massa it is really easy to drive, given its great stability.
The engine of the 599XX is lighter, but other features have also reduced weight such as the carbon ceramic brakes and extensive use of carbon-fibre and alluminium in the chassis. The track event for the 599XX was part of Ferrari’s Corse Clienti program (racing customers) where ‘ordinary’ customer folk get technical assistance and whatnot to drive around the track. It’s likely that the 599XX will get to America and Asia as well, as part of the Corse Clienti program.

Here’s a look at the one-off Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta, custom built for an American customer. This Ferrari was created within the special project program, set up to meet the demands of Ferrari’s more demanding (and richer) customers.
The Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta uses the 599 GTB Fiorano as a platform, and is inspired by the Ferrari spider designed by Fantuzzi for the Fellini film “Toby Dammit”. The car’s customer is Edward Walson and the colour of the Ferrari is gold, the same as in the film.
Walson had the luck to be involved in each stage of the design process and construction of the Superfast Aperta, which took 14 months to design and build. The 599 is a coupé model and to create the targa roof, an increase in weight was necessary. It’s an increase of only 20 kg though, as carbon fibre has been used.
The P540 Superfast Aperta has a 12V engine with 620 hp and 608 Nm of torque. It measures 4731 mm long with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. Walson says it’s the best Christmas present of his life. And I’m inclined to believe him.

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano China One-Off has been sold at auction for 1.2 million euros to an anonymous purchaser from Shanghai. The 599 China edition was the first collaboration between Ferrari and a Chinese artist, and shows livery inspired by traditional Chinese porcelain design from artist Lu Hao.
The proceeds from the auction will go to students and young researchers from the automobile engineering department at Tsinghua University. Students may then have the opportunity to study at Milan’s prestigious Polytechnic University for engineers and architects, and complete apprenticeship programs with Ferrari.
Other lots on auction were a suit from Giancarlo Fisichella, a helmet and a 599 GTB model scale signed by Michael Schumacher, who also personally presented the car.

This photo doesn’t give us much of an idea as to the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano facelift. We were keen to see which elements would have been adopted from the California, most notably on the front of the car.
In any case, the front looks to be more rounded and the slitted air intakes look slightly changed. It’s hard to tell whether the headlights have undergone any modifications, and we assume that a performance update will be part of the package.

There’s not much to say about the Ferrari stand at the Geneva show, apart from the fact that every year, it’s the one that really steals the heart away. Yesterday, we posted on the new 599 HGTE and the 599 XX, which you can see here in our gallery.
The Fiorano has been modified in suspensions, brakes, steering and “Manettino” settings to highlight the features of this rear-engine small sports sedan. The 599 XX on the other hand, is a real monster at 700hp. Apparently, Ferrari will be the fastest on the Nurburgring with this model.

Ferrari will present both its 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE and the 599 XX (described by Ferrari as a “technological laboratory”) at the Geneva show. You can see the former in this official image, while the latter underlines the many advanced solutions that Ferrari will debut.
The 599 XX will be reserved for a select group of customers, with the opportunity of testing some of the F1 technology that has never previously been present on a road model.
The 599 GTB “HGTE” means “Handling GT Evoluzione”, and a new metallic red will be used for the occasion of its debut. The 599 XX will have the F1 2008 livery, while the Ferrari stand will feature the Formula 1 vehicle itself.
Other recent road models on display will be a grey titanium Scuderia Spider 16M, a racing red 430 Scuderia and a metallic black California with sandy interior.
