2013 Nissan GT-R: "Track Pack" details revealed

published by Adriano

2013 Nissan GT-R:

Nissan has revealed the details of “Track Pack” that will be made available for the next GT-R, which is supposed to enter the worldwide market in Spring 2012. The package is aimed at those customers who would like to get the best possible performance out of it on a circuit, making it even more fast than the already extreme standard model.

The package will include exclusive 6-spoke Rays alloys finished with gloss black centers, new brake cooling ducts for both front and rear bumpers, different suspension setting and a lower ride height. As for the interior, the Track Pack gets rid of rear seats, replaces the front row with lighter Recaro sports seats and puts a Track Pack logo right in the middle of the dashboard.

The package will be available in the UK for an extra 10,000£ (about 11,700 € - 15,000 $) on the top of the ‘regular’ GT-R price, but Nissan has not officially revealed how much it will cost elsewhere. It shouldn’t be that different, though.

Nissan GT-R m.y. 2012 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.84 seconds

published by Adriano

The good people from Japanese website Lovecars just wanted to see for themselves what the Nissan GT-R model year 2012 is capable of after the upgrading that provided its already astonishing 3.8-litre V6 with even more power and torque. So they took one to the Sendai Hiland Raceway to find out more about its acceleration, and the outcome is indeed quite impressive.

The car registered a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint time of only 2.84 seconds, doing the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 2.72 seconds. It’s yet another confirmation that the GT-R project just gets better and better, year after year, as the Model Year 2010 did the 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds while the Model Year 2011 did that in 3 seconds flat.

In the shift between the 2011 and 2012 models, the GT-R gained an extra 20 hp (going from 530 to 550 hp) as well as 20 Nm of peak torque (going from 612 to 632 Nm). The car will hit the showrooms in early 2012, but Australian, British, Japanese and South African markets will also get the even more impressive “Track Pack” version, featuring 2 seats, more sporty settings (based on the V-Spec version), a specific brake cooling system, alloy wheels and a special lip-spoiler.

Nissan GT-R Model Year 2012: first official video released

published by Adriano

Talking about the new Nissan GT-R, Chief Vehicle Engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno stated that “we have a car that has the potential to go from 0-100 km/h (0-62mph) in under 3 seconds, lap the Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes 20 seconds, and cruise at speeds of 300 kilometers per hour”. There is no doubt that the new GT-R will have people turning their heads, just like all the previous incarnation.

It seems like the new Japanese supercar can do anything: Mizuno pointed out that the car is extremely versatile and user-friendly, affordable for all and could even take you on holiday on the seaside - if you wish so - as it lacks all that sort of limitations that most ‘regular’ supercar usually brings along.

Here is the first official video featuring Nissan’s latest evolution of the GT-R. We just cannot wait to see what it will come up with at the Nurburgring.

2012 Nissan GT-R: first official info and images

published by Adriano

Nissan GT-R MY 2012: prime info ufficiali

The first official info and images of the 2012 Nissan GT-R are now available. The eagerly awaited new version of the Japanese supercar will be once again more powerful than its predecessor as the work done under the bonnet will give its amazing 3.8-litre Twin Turbo V6 an extra 20 hp to play with (going from the 530 hp of the previous model to 550 hp) as well as 20 Nm more of peak torque (going from 612 to 632 Nm) that will be available between 3200 and 5800 rpm. However, even though the power has been increased, the fuel consumption went down from 12 to 11.8 l/100 km.

The already ultra-efficient transmission has been upgraded as well and is now smoother and less noisy, while the limited slip differential are now lubricated with a high performance lube oil. The frame is stiffer than the old one, in order to better manage the power and improve the handling. In the cabin we have a performance-data display on the center LCD screen, Bose audio system, new instrument panel with blue lighting and - finally - a gear indicator.

The new GT-R range will also feature a “Track Pack” version, with only two seats, which has been specifically designed for the track. This model will boast even more sporty settings (based on the V-Spec version), a specific brake cooling system, alloy wheels and a special lip-spoiler. However, the GT-R Track Pack will be available in Japan, United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa only. The ‘normal’ Model Year 2012 will be available in Japan at the end of this month and will hit the European markets in January.
