The Jaguar XF restyling is a very sexy effort from the company, with the lovely-looking new XF going on show at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The model gets a new headlight design, more in line with the XJ design, and the rear light set-up has also been modified to create one unit across the rear, united by the chrome trim.
The Jaguar XF bumpers have been slightly modified, and so has the entire front of the XFR, which gets features like a new bonnet and spoiler, and a more sloped rear end. The XF restyling gets a four-cylinder AJ-i4D 2.2-litre diesel engine with 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque. It is also equipped with Start&Stop system and an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The Supercharged V8 engine of the XFR remains unchanged, but it gets a new infotainment system and adaptive cruise control as an option. Both models will be on sale from July.
The Mercedes E63 AMG is a hot-looking and fast-running new AMG model from the brand that has been revealed at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The E63 AMG is equipped with the new 5.5-litre V8 twin turbo M157 engine which we’ve already seen on the Mercedes CLS 63 AMG. The E-Class AMG will be offered in two powersteps of 525 and 557 hp. The later is the AMG Performance Package, which also takes torque from 700 to 800 Nm.
According to Mercedes, the new V8, which gets Start&Stop technology, consumes 22 percent less fuel that the previous model, down to 9.8 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 230 g/km. Transmission is the seven-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox with driving modes of Controlled Efficiency, Sport, Sport+ and Manual. Handling is managed by the AMG Ride Control system with seven different suspension settings and a new hydro-electric steering set-up.
New 18-inch wheels get 255/40 tyres up front and 285/35 at the rear. An optional carbon-ceramic braking system is available which reduces the brake weight by 40 percent. The E63 AMG gets to 100 km/hr in 4.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 250 km/hr. That can be raised to 300 km/hr with a new package which also includes a sports driving course. The AMG Performance Package throws in a carbon-fibre engine cover, Alcantara sports steering wheel, red brake callipers and some carbon-fibre trim on the front bumper.
If the Americans thought the little Fiat 500 hard-top version was hot, they haven’t seen the Fiat 500C cabrio yet. Set to debut at the 2011 New York Auto Show, the soft-top 500 has a sliding fabric roof in total dolce vita style, and some serious head-turning looks. According to Fiat, the first sales of the US 500 couldn’t have been more successful and they’ll be counting on that to carry over to the 500C as well.
In fact, it seems that the Fiat 500C is getting an earlier release date “in time for spring” although exactly when hasn’t been revealed. The same modifications to the European version of the hard-top model have been made to the cabrio, although the originality of the fabric roof opening has been kept and it should be equipped with the impressive Multiair 1.4 powertrain.
While I would never buy one of these, if you’re interested in style and want a cabrio, this is a cute and relatively functional car. I drove one last year and you can see the results on BlogDolceVita - see what I mean about style…?
Could Mercedes be onto a winner with its Concept A? The model previews some of what we will see on the 2012 Mercedes A-Class and so far, we like it. The fact that we never liked the original A-Class probably helps too, but Mercedes has radically redesigned the model from a compact, city MPV into a coupé-like hatch.
The Mercedes Concept A will be revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show and will appear soon after at the 2011 New York Auto Show, too. You can check out all the design details in the pics, and while many probably won’t make it to production, including the star-studded grille, it’s a faithful representation of this totally revamped model.
So far, the Mercedes A-Class concept gets a four-cylinder, two-litre turbo engine with dual clutch shift designed specifically for the front-wheel drive, transverse-engined model. The engine is a direct-injected unit and in the 2.0 version at this stage produces 210 hp. The new clutch is part of a renewed BlueEfficiency package which should keep fuel consumption and emissions down.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S has pushed the 4.8-litre V8 up to 550 hp which is another 50 hp more than the turbo version. Even more impressive is the torque: the Panamera Turbo S has a whopping 750 Nm of torque, getting to 800 in overboost function. The extra 50 are activated in “Sport” and “Sport Plus” modes with the Sport Chrono Package.
The Panamera Turbo S now goes very fast, covering 0-100 km/hr in 3.8 seconds and with a top speed of 306 km/hr. According to Porsche fuel consumption is the same as the “standard” turbo model - that is, 11.5 l/100 km (with anti-roll, Michelin tyres on 19-inch wheels).
The Turbo S gets new turbines made of aluminium and titanium, and a new engine mapping system which improves torque response for increased agility. The Panamera Turbo S will be officially revealed at the upcoming 2011 New York Auto Show.

The debut of the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster was initially said to be set for the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but according to internet rumours from CarAdvice, the hotly anticipated roadster could make it to New York. The SLS AMG drop top would appear on a stand with three AMG models at the 2011 New York auto show.
The recently released Mercedes C63 AMG model will appear and we could even see an AMG concept model. The SLS roadster has been subject to plenty of spy shots and is probably ready for debut, even though September was originally accepted as the month for its unveiling, which would also make sense as a 125-year tribute on native soil. The NY auto show is just around the corner, so we’ll soon find out.
The Fiat 500C US debut could take place at the 2011 New York Auto Show in a move that could make a lot of sense for Fiat in the US. In time for summer, the Fiat 500C could be presented at the upcoming American show and will offer the same improvements made to the US version of the coupe.
The open top version will start with the 1.4 Multiair engine with 105 hp, and will have a larger fuel tank, Easy Entry rear seat access and more powerful air conditioning. Having driven one of these, I can safely say it is one seriously sexy little car and could be even more interesting for the US market than the first 500 to turn up.
In the meantime, the Fiat 500 hard top is making its way to Canadian customers along the TransCanada Highway with more than 200 cars.
