With the high temperatures in Italy and talk of indescribable supercars from Mercedes, things are getting a little delirious over here. Crowning the collaboration with McLaren on the development of the SLR, Mercedes Benza will present a super sports car without compromise of which only 75 units will be made, destined for the collectors market.

Internal sources at auto, motor und sport reveal that at the Mercedes Benz Aren of Stuttgart on July 30, the official presentation will take place of this leathal weapon: distinct from the SLR and inspired by the Silberpfeil 300 SLR from 1955, in that year winner of the Mille Miglia (with Stirling Moss) and then following the Targa Florio.

This supercar will see some radical changes in the roof and wind shield, but the figures will help us to better understand the project: at 450,000 euros this car does 0-300 km in less than 26 seconds, with a maximum speed at more than 350km.

There will be no windows, no conditioning system, and the weight should be reduced by a good 200kg, making it around 1550 kg. Other technology includes carbon ceramic discs and five speed automatic transmission (possibly that of the SL Black Series). The first shots should be out tomorrow.

The German magazine has also supplied some new details on the next supercar, the SLC: the coupè with its “seagull wings” will produced at Sindelfingen and should be available from 2010 at a price of 150,000 euros, with 3000 to 5000 units planned.
